When you enter create...

When you go in to create mode, what is the first thing you do? I crush the entrance with a block of metal, for xample. just wondering! I'd like to hear what you do.2011-02-12 03:04:00

1) Fly in circles
2) Make Grappling Hook
3) Make grabbable light matter
4) Swing around a bit
5) ????
6) Profit!

-Updating my Sackboy's wardrobe
-Experiment with logic
-Tinkering with music
-Struggling with movie cameras
-And finally, double checking everything before starting back on a level.

Just a number of things I do differently everytime when first entering create. I just love being random.

I do both of these. Then I begin to create what I set out to but always end up going off and doing so many other things I never seem to finish anything

Tools > Global controls > background volume > 0%!!!
Die create drone! Die!
I really wish you could set that as default when starting a new level.

The next step for me is usually a block of holo, then I have to turn it down to 10% every darn time!
Plus lighting all the way down if I'm working with a lot of holo.

I make a thin piece of hologram, usually invisible, animation speed to 0 (because I'm OCPD). Then I place a microchip on it, open it up. Then I place a randomizer onto it with 0 as the max on and off times. Then I connect it to a piece of music...I need music while creating or I get bored fast. lol

Aside from music, I tend to start levels by choosing a background, unless of course I don't want a background.

Every time Im in create mode Ill zoom out and fly as fast as I can in the level. When I get up to full speed I press down to go into walking mode and enjoy flying through the air across the whole level.2011-02-12 07:00:00

I have a workshop built specifically because I never complete a full project, I make mini projects. So I go in, build a vehichle with a turret, leave. Next time I go in, build a simple bipedal mech, leave. Next Time I go in, I hit play to test something and forgot last time I built a rocket propelled vehichle and paused it so then this vehichle crashes into me while I'm testing grapple stuff and I grapple to it and get flung around then crushed..2011-02-12 12:57:00

I change the background to LBP1 blank "Hate the LBP2 one, it's ugly"
then make a little infinite gate & put it on a stick, then delete the start gate.
then i turn on a 10 hour music playlist. then mess with my costumes a little.
then mess around till i pick what to do. Make a costume. or work on a level.

I used to crush the entrance but now I attach a destroy switch and hook a button up to that. Didn't know you could turn the pause sound off, though it doesn't annoy me too much.2011-02-12 15:44:00

I usually immediately place three sackbots in a box in the corner set to copy players 2, 3, and 4s costumes and make them tiny so nobody notices them. Then, wait for people to join me as I mess with other sackbots and bounce pads. Then, while they are having fun on the pads, I go over to the sackbot versions of them and copy their costume.
In OC where I join somebody else, I copy their costumes right away.

I always smash the start with metal if I'm going to be making a level and if I and just messing around I sometimes smash it or I glue it down.2011-02-13 16:42:00

I build a section, scrap it, build a section, scrap it, and then build a section, just to scrap it.

I usually just start building something that pops into my head.

I usually go into the Global Controls and choose the lighting I roughly want for whatever I want to make. Then I'll go through all the materials deciding what ones I want, then whatever I intended to do when going into Create Mode after that I do, whether doing some level stuff or just messing about or playing with the new tools to see how they work and whatnot.2011-02-13 17:16:00

I set the mood, atmosphere, even known as theme of the level first...I'll go choose a background, set up settings and choose the colo(u)r correction, go throughout all the options such as tweak the sound to have an echo or something of the sort. Afterwards, maybe not immediately, I'll listen to some of the music and figure out which would fit best.

Maybe then, I'll think of the starting point of the level, lots of levels have you start from the left and you travel right, simply because that's where the checkpoint is; I may move it up high or down low in consideration of how the level will play out - will the player take a large elevator to go down in a cinematic? Will a rocket send them soaring up? These things are determined by where the player starts. Sometimes I may move the checkpoint to the right side of the level to just mix things up as opposed to starting on the left.

If I plot the level to be a space-shooter, I may begin to build the space ship first; any important parts of the level should come first, as they may be the most difficult and should be mastered first.

I consider starting the best part, like a blank canvas, you can picture your very own masterpiece before you even touch it with a brush.

What does destroying the entrance do for you guys?

Anyway - for me, I start at the beginning - I tend to create from the top left - then, to the right and down. I start designing where the person will spawn - and go from there. But choosing the background is usually the first thing.

I usually crush the entrance first. I wish we could just delete it.
Then I either experiment or make some of my sketches a reality. Finally, I try to see if I can get my ideas into a decent level.

Still working on that last part.

I actually have started doing this now, but it's a shame that every time you switch from hover mode the music stops. (it does for me)

As for me, I usually just check on what I was doing last time, see if it works still the way I intended (more than once usually), and move on to the next part.

When I start a new level I usually start making the beginning of the level and choose the background, music, and other settings (fog, darkness, etc.)

I've also tried turning off the Pause Mode sound now, just realized how annoying it was.

Yeah same. You gotta like, pull the index finger down to the Right analog, and kinda swing your thumb underneath to reach the X button, so you can fly faster.
