World 1-2: The Forgotten Sewers

Archive: 11 posts

Part two of the Sackbeard Chronicles. Around 120 hours put into the project now. Hope you all enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.

This one starts out really good. However, when I jumped to the right off the cliff.. Or whatever it's called... The second platform tipped to the right and killed me. I ended up at the top again and lost the rest of my lives trying to jump down again. Didn't have time to go through the beginning again. Would suggest having this tilting platform reset when the player dies and goes back up to the top.2011-02-13 13:56:00

I have made some adjustments that make it more obvious that you are not meant to leap off of the opening platform, care to give it another go? You don't have to use the level link from the first one to access this level. Thanks!2011-02-13 17:24:00

Nice job on this. I really like the atmosphere of the level. The gameplay with the torch-o-matic in the darkness was fun. It did get tricky at parts given the darkness and all but overall it was well done. I also liked the radio transmissions, kinda reminded me of bioshock. I Hearted. Look forward to more.

If you get the chance, try "Jersey S'mores for F4F.

Very very fun. Again, love all the cinematics and the elevator had me loling. I love those lil moments, and your technics and machines is very pro. Love the flashy stuff. Kinda odd it had to kill me to get out of the seat, but I'm sure that's more of a lbp bug than anything.

The secrets are very nice. Very dark. I was hoping sackboy would have a tiny light on his helmet, but it added to the suspense. It's longer than your other levels, but it felt just about right. Keep em enthralled! It's gorgeous!

+ Ha, that guy in the darkness reveal was great.
+ Machinery was nice in the next room.
- Rawr. I was playing around with the creatinator, fired one upwards, activated the cutscene, the fire fell down and killed me. ._.
Then I had to watch the creatinator cutscene again.
- Controllinator kills you at the top. There is a way to safely eject the player. (middle button on controller)

Decent level.
Why four lights at one time on the creatinator though? Surely one would suffice?

Alright, played both your first and second levels:

The first level's pretty nice, though a few cues, such as an emotion, sound effect, etc. feel a little bit off. Other than that, good job.

The second level, though, needs a bit of tidying up.

In the first part, well, it's really difficult to tell where to go. The LBP2 storyline levels are great, and they use arrows to guide their players - surely a single arrow at the beginning won't hurt?

The buildup to the creatinator was a bit too.. much. Not to mention you lose it when you hop on the controlinator - you could just use a player-sensor instead. And speaking of the controlinator, you should have it eject the player when it reaches the top, rather than kill the player. @_@

When the first.. zombie?.. appears, I decided to slap him, so I jumped backwards and did so... and then couldn't get out. You should probably fix it so you can't jump where he is, and possible where future ones are? After the first one, slapping zombies was decidedly not a good idea, since I had to replay.

The creatinator also fires a few too many shots - in order to clear my path after clearing my path of zombies, so to speak, I hafta turn my head and fire the other way until the bolts are gone. Maybe lower maximum emitted at once to two?

And something that may be considered a more personal gripe, as a Christian, I'd appreciate you changing the exclamation that the.. eh, I guess scientist dude?.. says when he realizes you're not a zombie. Thanks.

However, enough focusing on the negative aspects!

The lighting was really good, as were camera angles and sound effects. While I must say that I wasn't frightened(It's Little Big Planet, after all), you did a good job.

Platforming was simple, but not dull, and using the creatinator to see is a nice touch.

Keep up the good work!
