I need help taking "quality" ps3 eye images!
Archive: 8 posts
Howdy! The thread really says it all. I've experimented with lighting conditions, etc. But often I find that the quality of the "sticker" created is not very good (low resolution, not very bright, etc.) Has anyone out there had better success with getting good images in? I know that some people have used the eye to take photos of images off of their computer screen. Does this work well? Should I bring my laptop home from work just so I can take it over to the PS3 eye and take photos of the image off of its screen? Any help from those of you who are getting good image results would be much appreciated! Thanks, jawsh-o-rama | 2008-11-17 16:56:00 Author: jawshorama Posts: 7 |
PSEye images are deliberately low quality. Personally i think they detract from the aesthetic of the game and I prefer to create stickers using in game materials. simply draw using the materials, apply normal stickers for detail and colour, and then take an in game photo using the sticker menu. The result is a large, high quality sticker which retains the look of the game but allows infinitely more detail You can even use the low quality PSeye photos for tracing the image with the materials You can see examples of this in my beta level, i think it works very well. | 2008-11-17 17:45:00 Author: accordion Posts: 76 |
Thanks, Accordion. That's a good suggestion, though a painful one! I know that the ps3 eye images also eat up a ton of memory, so perhaps it is best to go this route... It is interesting to think about doing this.... I guess it is a lot like photoshop, but with 6 layers instead. And no mouse... and no graphic tablet... and no ________ (fill in the blank...) My level will take longer to construct, but I wager that the result will be much more clean... -jawshorama | 2008-11-17 18:39:00 Author: jawshorama Posts: 7 |
I myself take a pic with the eye and then screen shot the pic to the size I want. Takes less memory XD I fidn pics taken with the eyetoy relativly good quality. You just need to focus it. There's a small ring around the lense most people miss, you turn it to focus it. Just google your pic and take a shot of it. | 2008-11-17 20:43:00 Author: lionhart180 Posts: 200 |

is this the ps3 or ps2 eye? O.o; | 2008-11-17 21:55:00 Author: lionhart180 Posts: 200 |
the PS3 PSeye has a a switch for regular or wide the PS2 eyetoy has a focus ring but drastically lower picture quality. | 2008-11-17 22:02:00 Author: accordion Posts: 76 |
I was writing about the PS3 PSeye. And yes, it is the one with the switch for regular or wide angle photos... Lionhart has a good idea as far as keeping thermometer size down... Still, I have to say that I'm gonna go with Accordion on this and start creating my own stickers in game to keep quality high... ...at least until the often rumored - but thoroughly denied - ability to import images comes along... -jawshorama | 2008-11-18 16:35:00 Author: jawshorama Posts: 7 |
