http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/7650/masseffect2d.jpg From Mass Effect wiki Mass Effect 2 is a science-fiction role-playing action game developed by BioWare for the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. It is the sequel to Mass Effect and the second game in the planned Mass Effect trilogy. — Official Plot Summary Two years after Commander Shepard repelled invading Reapers bent on the destruction of organic life, a mysterious new enemy has emerged. On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organization devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced. To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy's most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong. This is one of the most awesome games I've ever played and it's incredible that there wasn't a thread yet... Story is mature and awesome, the paragon/renegade system is really well implemented. Gameplay is really cool, and quite unique for the Playstation Graphics are amazing, or better, the overall design is incredible. The characters are impressive, believable and alive, unlike many FF... This is a must for all sci-fi lovers and true gamers!!! | 2011-02-10 11:55:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I thought Mass Effect was massively inferior to it's spiritual predecessor - Knights of The Old Republic; And Mass Effect 2 is a backwards step from Mass Effect - as they try and make it more and more like a halo/gears of war style game. The item system was far too over-simplified - as was the leveling system... and the fantasy world they'd created was just a generic mish-mash of every bit of Sci-Fi there has ever been. They ditched the Mako planetary rover in favour of the scanning system - possibly one of the most boring game mechanics in any game. needless to say, I was left unimpressed by Mass Effect 2 - and I've no hope that Mass Effect 3 will be any better. | 2011-02-10 12:12:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
Tried the demo a few times, it failed to earn a spot on the to buy list. | 2011-02-10 12:15:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
I got it along with LBP2, thought i'd try it out. I bought all the DLC, too. I haven't played in a while though, I got stuck on the part with killing all those Collectors. 8( | 2011-02-10 12:25:00 Author: AbstractFlesh Posts: 837 |
I think I like it really much for the gameplay that is not turn based and it's quite quick. | 2011-02-10 12:34:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
One of the best gaming experiences I have ever had, I now understand what all the the 360 fanboys were so happy about last year lol. Looking forward to ME3 at the end of the year | 2011-02-10 18:18:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
I got it at my brothers request. Twas epic :kz: Ya. Looking forward to ME3. Yep. ... Yep. :kz: | 2011-02-10 22:08:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
yeah this one is on my list, but I think I'm going to get a gamefly account so I can rent it first. There's only a couple of games that I'm going to plunk down full price for. LBP2 is one, Red Dead Redemption is next | 2011-02-11 00:05:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
Can't believe there are haterz about, I can't express enough how awesome ME2 is. Trust me when I say the demo is not representative of the experience you get. While ME2 was 'dumbed down', it made for less clunkier gameplay, and the story gets pretty **** epic too (as does the first one). Highly recommend this beaut. | 2011-02-11 00:15:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |
Now that the game is out on PSN it's on my "to get and play" list, though with work and LBP2 keeping me busy doing so might be a ways off (I still need to get around to playing my copy of Disgaea 3). I've been liking Western-style rpgs more and more as of late, so I imagine I'll get my money's worth; even if the gameplay is a bit simplistic it still looks more exciting then tired turn-based battle mechanics and I do prefer personal choices having greater affect on how a game's story plays out as opposed to being railroaded. The only thing that bothers me at a glance is the fact that I find Miranda's face to be incredibly disturbing... | 2011-02-11 03:57:00 Author: Dapiek Absaroka Posts: 512 |
Mass effect 3 set on Earth! | 2011-02-11 04:00:00 Author: MrFunctionality Posts: 637 |
I have always liked the Final Fantasy series, but this is really miles above it. The characters are different and really stands out. You got all those cool characters when you see him in 2 the first 2 seconds and you understand how epic he/she is. Garrus is really impressive, I really love the character a lot! Not what you would think just by watching his pic | 2011-02-12 07:06:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Yeah, one of the greats in gaming. I got the game and beat it 3 times a year ago and still play it today, yep, ME3 is going to be awesome because we have to defend Earth from thousands of creepy aliens, I don't think the plot will be as awesome as the last 2 though. | 2011-02-12 07:21:00 Author: Merc Posts: 2135 |
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/21/mass-effect-2-arrival-dlc-detailed-by-latest-patch/ Well I'll be. Now I'm excited. Seems like the patch was taken down though... :/ Still. D: | 2011-02-21 21:12:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
I downloaded the patch and I must say that the glitch for which sometimes characters disappeared during the dialogue seems to be gone, and some textures seems a bit more refined (like the one on Garrus' armor). Anyway, yes I'm really excited too. | 2011-02-22 11:36:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Full patch details here: -Fixed a crash related to memory fragmentation. This fix will also resolve the crashing that corrupted Save Games. -Slightly improved load times and level streaming. -Added some telemetry to better improve future titles. -Updated some strings to fix spelling mistakes (Sorry Kaidan!) -Fixed the picture frame in Shepard?s Cabin to accurately reflect your love interest choices in Mass Effect: Genesis. -Fixed a rare crash in the PSN version in Shepard?s Cabin. Still don't think it's up here in the US though... Europe only ATM. I think. D: | 2011-02-22 11:49:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Okay so I've been planning to get this game but the only issue is when viewing any videos based on Mass Effect people always comment saying that you can't enjoy it as much if you didn't play the first one. I only have a PS3 and a iMac so I'm not sure if I'll be able to play it. Should I give Mass Effect 2 a miss until I can afford an XBOX (Next christmas), Watch the levels on you tube than get the full game when I'm done or......... | 2011-02-27 17:15:00 Author: EvilGenius Posts: 7 |
Lucky me, i got both, the Ps3 and the XBox. I'm a huge Fan of the ME Series since it came out. Got them all on Day one and even bought it for the Ps3 again. I agree with OmegaSlayer in every Word. The most impressive Characters ever. They are so credible, you really care for them and if you fail on your Mission and some of them die, you feel Sorrow. The Story is just epic and mature. I'm glad they threw away the Mako Missions. They were boring back then. The Planets looked all the same and the Side Missions have been the same as well. Yes...mining the Planets with the Scanner is kinda crappy, that's true. But the Side Missions are way better than in ME1. I think ME3 will be a great Final. Bring it on, Reapers... | 2011-02-28 16:46:00 Author: DeKay1980 Posts: 183 |

Your playthrough won't be affected that much by not having played Mass Effect, since I suppose the digital comics does a good job to recap all the major events, some of them will play a major role in ME3 (as the Rachni queen, the new role of Liara...) You will feel you missed Mass Effect when you finish playing ME2, since you will think: "Oh! What an awesome game, I would like to have MOOOOOAAAAAAAR, and more is either ME or ME3. | 2011-02-28 17:04:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I think part of the reason I was so mightily unimpressed by Mass Effect 2 - is that Mass Effect was Biowares spiritual successor to Knights of The Old Republic (a superb game); Now, I thought Mass Effect was an overly simplified version (not as good as) of KotOR - and Mass Effect 2 was a simplified version (not as good as) of Mass Effect. So overall - Mass Effect 2 was like a huge leap backwards from KotOR. However!!!! I have since went back to Mass Effect 2 - completely diregarding my feelings towards KotOR - and not even viewing Mass Effect 2 as an RPG game, but as an Action/Story game - and I have to say I am quite enjoying it. What I'm enjoying most about it though - is the follow on from Mass Effect 1. The way the decisions you made in the 1st game bleed through to the 2nd is brilliant... it's had me on the floor laughing several times. Because I played through the 1st game as an authoratarian racist - with zero tolerance for Alien races - not even allowing them in my team, and belittling them at every turn. And the main citadel area is quite different because of this, with the politics of the place actually changed because of my previous decisions. I'm still annoyed by the lack of a Mako lander - no planet surface exploration - the painfully dull scanning system - the simplified inventory system - simplified weapons system - simplified *everything*... I'm not a moron, so I don't need things simplified - if anything - I want them to be more complicated!. But, so long as I forget about KotOR - I enjoy it... but in comparison - it's gash. | 2011-02-28 18:28:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |
