Scoring: individual scores for specific players help please

Archive: 9 posts

Hi

The site has helped me immensly so far but I'm currently struggling to work out how to give my players scores.

The set up is this:

Two goals, two controllable robots (using the controllinator). Each player controls a robot and the aim is to get the ball into the other player's goal.

Problem:

I want Robot 1 to put a ball into Goal 1 and score points. The points are for Robot 1 only.
I then need Robot 2 to be able to put the ball into Goal 2 and score points. These points are for Robot 2 only.

I can figure out how to give points but it gives them to all players no matter which goal the ball is placed in.

Any help much appreciated - it's a similar system to the Basketball mini game

there is a tweak on the score sensor saying who to give the score too, that player or all players i believe.2011-02-10 10:02:00

Thanks for the reply.
To explain further:

So, obviously I don't want the "Points to all" option, i want it for individuals.

BUT: How do i rig up a score in one goal be given to one player, and a score in the other goal given for the other player.

I'm literally creating a football/soccer game played on the back wall. I want goals scored into the top goal to give points to player1 and goals scored into the bottom goal to give points to player 2....I just dont know how to rig this up

Well if you have 2 goals... why not just connect the score giver to said Sackbot??

Like add a tag to the ball and then tag sensor on the goal 1, place a score giver onto the Sackbot 1's microchip (set it to give to one player) and then connect the tag sensor to the score giver.

Good idea but,....I'm not using sackbots per se. I've literally created a wooden thing that resembles a robot and attached a controllinator....does that still count as a sackbot?

it should still use the same logic, just use different colour tags to represent each goal.2011-02-10 18:35:00

The logic carries over information based on player, so when you invoke a score giver with "Just You" it acts appropriately.

I guess the problem here is that the player doesn't put enough information into the ball. How do the robots handle holding and/or throwing the ball? There are many ways of carrying over the player signal, and options depend on circumstances.

I assume your players are in controllinators? And that each goal is specific to a specific player (like in soccer, any ball that goes into one teams goal gives the other team a point regardless of who actually put it there)? The controllinator has that little wire in the middle that means it's active (has a player in it). Hook that wire into the top of an AND gate (yes it has to be the top port) and hook the ball sensor or whatever into the bottom of the AND and feed the AND into the score giver. That way the score giver will read the player data from the controllinator and insert it into the score giver. Do the same thing with the other controllinator and the other goal.2011-02-10 21:13:00

Everyone - BIG UP

You did it, thank you!!!!!

In terms of kicking the ball, at the moment my "robots" merely push it. I've attempted a piston mechanism at e feet of the robots that move when I press R1 but I can't quite getit to be effective

Thanks
