object snap to position

Ok, so I am going to lay this out real quickly. Suppose I have this layout. X X I want the item on the red X to jump to the blue X. I can make the blue X active, and jump to it. The problem is that once I move off of the red X, I want to make it active too. The problem is that then the red X becomes active, and I jump back. It behaves like a high speed strobe toggle; not the ideal outcome. I am currently using tags and followers. Does anyone have any ideas how to lay this out? | 2011-02-10 06:43:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |
Hmm, sounds tricky. Mostly because I dont understand it yet >.> If I have this right you want an item to move from red x to blue x, in order for it to make the jump the x has to be active, and your problem is that after it makes the jump to blue x, red x deactivates? If thats the case you can just set the red x to activate and stay activated. There are a few ways to do this, it just depends on what switches or sensors your currently using. | 2011-02-10 07:41:00 Author: Hexagohn Posts: 335 |
basically, what I have is a tag on each X labeled "ground". Now, each of those tags is linked to a tag sensor with a detection radius of .1. On the object that moves i have a follower set to follow the "ground" tag, and a tag that is labeled to correspond with the sensor on the ground object. As expected, if I only have one ground tag, my object jumps right to it and deactivates the ground tag once it is in place. This is what I want to happen. We will call this the red X. When I add a second ground tag (blue X), The object wants to just jump back and forth. This makes sense because as it leaves the red X, the red X activates. That means that it is still in range of an active ground tag when it deactivates blue X. I'm sure i am just over thinking this, but I'm stumped. | 2011-02-10 08:00:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |
I don't understand the goal. You want the item to move to the blue X and stay there? Or have it move to the blue X then move back when you activate the red X? | 2011-02-10 09:57:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Yes, it should stay on Blue. But when it leaves the red X, that should become an active one. So that it is open for the next game piece to move to if the need arises. | 2011-02-10 10:03:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |
