Travelling electric current and related questions

Archive: 2 posts

I'm currently brainstorming ideas for a level and I'm thinking of making a background that makes use of traveling electric currents like those found in the "Current Affairs" story level. I already know how to electrify objects and how turn the electricity of an object on and off via sensors, switches, etc. but I'm feeling really dumb in that I can't figure out how to make a surge of electricity perpetually travel along the length of an object like it did in the level and wondering if anyone could tell me how or if there is some sort of trick behind it.

I'm also wondering if the same affect can be achieved with other danger effects like plasma or fire; and given that I also saw electrical currents traveling along the paths of an object that forks and loops back into itself, I'm also curious how to control the path and how complex a path can be that currents can follow.

And on a rather unrelated question: is there any way to make a bounce pad launch objects other then sackfolk and sackbots?

Alright, so I think what they do in Current Affairs is use Holo material to move smoothly and intricately when neccesary and have it set to electrify the relevant objects as it passes. You can only electrify an object, you cant electrify an area of an object. So it has to be an object that is making the fluid movements, and I believe holo material can be set to follow a path. Then I would put a sensor of some kind on there to trigger danger tweakers thus electrifying, burning, ect. whatever object needs to be made dangerous.2011-02-10 07:47:00
