The (Lack of) Boss Battles

Archive: 19 posts

What are you guys' opinions on the boss battles of this game?

I thought they were ok in quality but there should have been at least 2-3 more.
It seems like the only boss battles in this game are: Opening Fright (King Kong), Thieves Den (Monkey King) and the Monkey Boss wasn't really a fight.

Lol, I said the same thing. I was expecting each world last level to have a boss.
Knowing the LBP PSP, it's a bit difficult to create a boss.
Then again, I don't think that's a good excuse.

@Silverleon: OK I guess... well this is what Wikipedia says:

boss is an enemy-based challenge (and a computer-controlled opponent in such challenge) which is found in video games.[1] A fight with a boss character is commonly referred to as a boss battle or boss fight.[2] Boss battles are generally seen at the climax of a particular section of the game, usually at the end of a stage or level, or guarding a specific objective, and the boss enemy is generally far stronger than the opponents the player has faced up to that point.[3]

A miniboss, also known as a middle boss, sub-boss, or midboss, is a boss smaller and usually weaker than the main boss in the area or level. Some minibosses are simply stronger versions of regular enemies, like in the Kirby games. Some well known video game characters who usually take the role of a miniboss are Dark Link (The Legend of Zelda series), Vile (Mega Man X series), Allen O'Neil (Metal Slug) and Bowser Jr. (Mario). Minibosses are sometimes encountered later in the game as normal enemies.

Im not a boss fan really myself. I think the amount of Bosses is just right. I hate having to 'run down there, shoot it here, run down there, shoot it here' again and again. Hit a boss about three times max is fine with me. Ive been put off to many games when a review says that 'Boss 6 is solid to beat!', no thanks, id rather have an extra level to try and do. Bosses are old hat!2011-02-10 21:00:00

Yeah, that's what Wikipedia says...

I'm assuming you underlined this because you don't think Wikipedia is a reliable source, but contrary to what your teachers/librarians may have told you, Wikipedia is a credible source for the most part. While it started out as a bunch of people editing, they actually do have a team of experts now that check edits. My friends changed a couple articles as a joke, and within like a day the articles were corrected and they were banned for a week from editing.

Sorry about that. Anyway, I don't mind the lack of boss battles in the game; if anything, they are just frustrating to ace. I really disliked the monkey boss and didn't know what to do for the first 5 minutes that I was on that part. The only parts that I can remember that I'd even consider boss battles were the ape and the dragon chariot part.

Opening Fright (King Kong) is probably the best boss fight in the game, story or community in my opinion.2011-02-10 23:30:00

That's kinda like the Skulldozer and Danger Chicken, more of a chase than a boss battle.
the alien you had to throw bombs at?
Can not believe I forgot that one.

the evil snow man in the alpine?
Definitely miniboss.

Personally for me it is in terms of visuals, logic, etc. But AFPs are pretty close, like 2-howmanybossbattleshehas close.

Woo-hoo! Thanks for the compliment Sketch! There have been other great boss battles as well. I know that SeekingTruth has done some fun ones, and Spark's haunted ship level is a great boss level!

Yes, the story mode needed more boss battles, but the ones that were there were amazing! 2012-07-02 18:40:00
