Cursor-based teleportation

In my level sackboy's spacial powers, you have a cursor that you can use to freely teleport to any nearby destination (except the floor or solid objects). Well, for fun, I'm going to tell you how I made it. First you make a cursor. To do that, take some holographic material and make it the shape and color you want. Then, put a microchip on the hologram. On this microchip, first put an advanced mover set to a reasonable speed and 100% acceleration and decceleration. Then put a follower set on full acceleration, a high maximum range, and your desired minimum range (this controls how closely the cursor follows the player). Then make a remote control sackbot that will be using the cursor (there are plenty tutorials on how to do this if you don't know how) make sure the sackbot can use controlinators, but keep it away from the one you use to control it. On the sackbot's controlinator, wire a button of your prefrence to a not gate, then the follower, and an analog stick to the advanced mover. If done correctly, when you hold your desired button and move the stick, you will have free control of the cursor. When you let go, the cursor will go back to following you. Now to get to the fun part, teleporting to your cursor. To do this, put an emmiter on the cursor and have the emmiter emit a controlinator set with a trigger range of 5000 and auto-enter on. Then make it so as soon as you enter, you get ejected from the controlinator and it destroys itself. I think there is a more in-depth tutorial on how to do this. Well anyways, link your desired button to the emitter (have the emmiter set on emit once) and when you push that button, you will be warped to your cursor's location. Add light and sound to make it cooler. Note: If you teleport into a solid object, you will be destroyed. To get around this, try putting some tag sensors on objects that prevent you from teleporting when the cursor is overlaping them. Its nice and easy to instantly be ejected from the one you teleport to. All you have to do is put a magnet key in the sackbot youre playing as, and then a magnet switch inside the controllinator you're gonna be teleported to. Set the magnet switch to Maximum Radius 0.1 and the output set to the eject player on the controllinator. Make sure you make the key and switch unique to eachother though, else you might have a big flash of lights and wont even get teleported 2011-02-11 19:23:00

i am planning on a conceptual puzzle game using sackbots, remote dcs and teleporters, but the cursor thing is so cool. what about emitting sackbots... or water drops on invisible platforms? yes, cursors have potential...2011-04-13 03:32:00
