Blending a scene (STUCK)

Archive: 3 posts

Im a bit stuck, basically I have a fairly simple scene happening, rocket takes off with you inside, only problem is I cant find a good way to get the transition from the background (avalon) to the starfield to look right, Im using camera shake and a lighting tweaker to give it a strong orange fog as you 'go through the atmosphere' and having it darken up afterwards but it still doesnt seem to work well, you clearly see the edge of the starfield come into view as you pass it. Are there any easy solutions to making this blend better? I tried emitting the starfield but couldnt find a way to make it fade in and control the speed of the fade. Possible?2011-02-09 16:09:00

You could fade to another camera that is only showing bright orange (Neon) and then fade to the starfield. You can use this movie camera to change the length of the transition too!
I did this in a Beta level at around 0.50s:

you could also add a series of global lighting changes to a sequencer. Time how long the rocket blast is and make a sequencer that long, add you cameras e.t.c to it and also place down a few global lighting tweakers to the sequencer set so they overlap eachother. Its really cool, they actually 'smoothly transition between the lighting settings!'

Play about with it so you get a blinding white 'peak' at the point the connecting scene borders hit the view. It'll be like the blinding glare of the sun hit for a second or what have you. I believe it should work quite well.
