Scott Pilgrim vs The World - Matthew Patel

Archive: 18 posts

Hey all!

This is my first level in LittleBigPlanet 2 - it's a two parter because I filled up the thermometers more or less all the way in each part... But the first part is pretty much just a brief, semi interactive cut scene, so not a big deal - just apologies in advance for the extra load time.

If you're even remotely interested in or familiar with Scott Pilgrim and are willing to give the level a try, please give me a shout!

I love receiving in game feedback (a sad rarity) and always enjoy trying new levels, so I've opted to try this "Feedback 4 Feedback" system. Just let me know what you'd like me to take a look at.

(New to the systems on this forum, so give me a shout if I'm going about this all wrong! )

Awesome, I've added this level to my queue and I'll play it and review it tonight ^^

In return, could you please try and review my level, Bounce Pad Level 1.

It's much appreciated ^^

All queued up for a look this evening! Will leave my review directly on the level - lemme know if you want it reposted here.

EDIT: (Didn't want to double post).
Played your level now - really enjoyed it. Tight little design, visually very nice to look at with an overall clear aesthetic direction and fun with a good element of challenge.
Gave it a yay and left you some more detailed in game feedback

- Characters could be tidied up a little more, since you have a whole thermo bar to spend.
+ Opening to "Threshold" (I think)!
The platforming battle elements were a nice idea, using bounce pads and grabinators to "throw the punches" (pretty smart).
Worth a play.

No feedback required.

I really didn't think anyone was going to pick up on the bass being Threshold xD I tried to emphasise it more, but it's pretty subtle at best - man, you recognising it made my day!

I should probably go back and tidy up some of the sticker overlap on the characters if I make a bit of time.

Thanks for your comments either way! Really appreciate them!

Ha. Since getting the dvd, I have lost count of the number of times I have watched it.
Plus I listen to the soundtrack (especially sex bob-omb/beck) to and from work every day.
I'm always willing to play any SP level, you if you make the next boss or something, let me know.
Plus you should read the comic if you haven't already, I think recreating that would be more interesting (story wise) than the movie.

i like the general idea i think you could work a little in the characters like maybe using sackbots and also you can make invisible the magic mouth and the destroyer at the begining

can you please feedback my level?

I thought the level was pretty good and funny.
The gameplay was good although it was pretty short, but the visuals could be cleaned up a little bit.

i left a review on it. I think you should make the characters sackbots instead of lbp1 style. and make it so you control a sackbot so you can dress him like scott pilgrim. otherwise its great! i like the part where Patel asked if you got the email and scott is jumping on the delete button lol2011-02-15 13:35:00

In advance of addressing you all individually, thanks for your time and feedback everybody. I'm really glad the level is generally being enjoyed.
As to all of the levels I've queued up, I'll get back to you guys with in game level reviews and then feedback in your individual topics or via PM soon! Had a busy week, hence the lateness of getting round to reply in the first place, but I will get on it next time I boot the game!

@midnight_heist
Yeah, I've read the comic
I was trying to approach it with a little originality, building from my amalgamated memories of each version and translating it to gameplay.
Will definitely let you know if I get around to building a level for ex #2

Thanks again!

@KRX
I like having the first destroyer visible, kind of thought it fitted with the band poster aesthetic, but a bunch of people have given me this feedback, so maybe I'll get rid of it...

As to sackbots, I find them less interesting to visually customise. Feel like I can artistically do more in this sort of format Where in particular did you think characters felt a bit sloppy? Wonder if an example might help me clean them up?

Thanks, either way! Your level is now queued and I'll get back to you soon!

@Sack-Jake
Nice to see some enthusiasm for my level! Yours is queued up and I'll get back to you with feedback soon!

Again, any specific examples of where I could apply some visual polish? Might help me tighten it up! Either way, thanks a bunch and I'm glad you liked it.

@Xpenland
Level queued and will get back to you soon!

See my comment to KRX as to the sackbots - I should give them a try, but I like being able to craft visuals in my own style
Beyond that, thanks for the kind words!

@Onaga666

After an lbp.me search, your movie is queued up!

Update:
The level reminded me of why I love Scott Pilgrim so much (break glass in case of demons' - nice)
I thought a few design elements could use smoothing out, and not so sure about using right-angle turns in the sub-space if the material used is glass (glass is ok, but maybe a smooth wavy ride?). The tone and humor make up for it.

Hey everyone, I want to let you know that I've played all the levels I was meant to play some time ago now! Left a yay on all of them, hearted a few and left individual level feedback on the in game "Review" section for all of them. Some great stuff from you all!

And Hoplyte, thank you so very much for the high praise of my level reminding you of why you love Scott Pilgrim! Makes me feel like I really accomplished what I set out to do.
The advice of restructuring subspace to remove any visible 'angular' corners is a good one - will iron out the atmosphere nicely, I think. I will do that but currently my PS3 is not reading discs, so it's been sent off for repairs

So with my PS3 temporarily out of commission, it will be a little while before I can play any further levels people post here. If you do happen to, I will queue them up for a later date though!

Thanks so much for all your feedback so far, guys. I appreciate you taking the time to do so, and your reviews really make me feel happy with some of the things I've accomplished and give me better ideas for future levels!
