Tattoos.

Archive: 108 posts

I reckon this would go here. Anyone got any tattoos to show off? Any planned? Anyone considering one, but wants to hear some opinions first?
Whatever your reasons, come here to discuss all things tattoo related.

I'll start off with my tattoos.

http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/2516/p1611081609ox6.jpg

http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1065/p1611081610ul8.jpg

The quote I had done today. I designed the font for the "I Love You" part myself, the rest was a Gothic/Medievil style. The heartagram below was my first, and the quality is pretty poor. I may get it re-done later.

I've got about several tattoos planned. All black and white, all following a theme. I know the next two I'm having done is a Latin phrase that reads "Signum Fidei" (translated: Sign of Faith), and a small cross just below where the neck starts.

Discuss.

Wow, that is awesome! :arg:

I love the idea of a tattoo but I'm not sure I would get one myself. It would have to be something that meant a lot.

I've wanted the heartagram since I was 14. So there wasn't a doubt in my mind about getting that one.
The new one I've only wanted for a couple of months. But it means a lot to me, due to some bad experiences in that area. It'll forever mean something to me, and because of that I had to have it.

They both contribute to what'll build up to be a sleeve tattoo. Which may not be finished until I'm like 25 or something.

Ahhh tattoos. Piercings. My kinda stuff!

I have 4 tattoos.. .

Lets see. Where to begin.

I have cat paws on my chest because I hold them close to my heart.
I have an ankh on my shoulder.
I have a cancer wribbon on my forearm in memory of my grandmother.
I have a ladybug on my inner right arm in memory of my uncle. (Its tiny and ADORABLE!).

I also have piercings, though I'm veering off subject. I have 4 ear piercings (the bottom two are gauged up to twos...). I have my nose pierced, and my lip pierced. I also had clavicle piercings. (on my chest), but I had to take those out a couple days ago, because they were rejecting, like a lot of surface piercings do. The scars are pretty awesome, though, and I plan to get them redone soon. .

Yeah, I definitely have to get some memorial tattoos. That's the main idea behind the cross, as a memorial to all those who passed before I was able to commemorate them.

You able to get some pictures up xMander?

I'm having my left arm get done in a sleeve. Just collecting up tattoos as I go along, to eventually join them all up.

I don't like the idea of tatoos, I know people who have died because the ink is poisonous...

Most likely due to them picking back alley, unclean tattoo places.

You have to check out the place first, see their equipment, how clean their work area is, hear clients feedback. Can't just walk up to any old place and say "Ink me up please."
That's how I ended up with a pretty shoddy one.

I have a large celtic tribal tattoo on my arm. I'm just thinking of adding to it (I have done this several times over the years) to put my daughters name on it in Ogham (ancient celtic language). I have been saying this for 12 months and have yet to get round to it tho.

I would love a pierced nose as well, but I have a respectable job so it would be frowned on. Maybe I'll grow my hair long and get one when I retire lol.

I saw "clavicle piercings" and cringed...

No tattoos for me, but I definitely want something at some point. My brother has a few tribal tattoos that I didn't like at first, but they're throughout his body so they're actually coming together quite nicely.

I know that some 'respectible' jobs wont let you be yourself..

I'm glad I got mine. I work at a bank.

Did I mention that I also have pink hair? I think I failed that.

I love my job. =]]]]

Sorry for the picture clutter.
You can see one and a half clavicle piercings in that last picture. And a half a paw. haha. And you can kinda see the lip ring. (It's monroe-esque, I did it myself, so it's not the norm, but I love it. )

Sweet. Loving them tats.
I want to get something with an Ankh, and the Egyptian symbol for fire somewhere. They were originally part of a design for my ribs.

I used to have purple in my hair. Might get that again.

You've also made me realise that there's no topic for people to post pictures of themselves. I'll get on it now.

Ah, cheers.

You should totally get the Mudkip tattoo. Just something small on your leg, who the hell cares about them?
I'm lightly considering getting my Sackboy tattoo'd to my leg. I'm just gonna have some stupid tattoos on the lower half of my body. Anything that makes me laugh for a little over than a minute is gonna get inked.

Mudkips are awesome. .

I have full plans for one of my neopets to be tattooed on me somewhere. His name was Phanalyne. He was a pepper chia. Oh I miss him. . -end neopets ramble-.

I have many ideas for future tattoos.

Getting a butterfly on my ankle, and the word 'smile' on the inside of my bottom lip. Every time I frown someone will smile, and in turn I'll smile, etc.

I am going to get a rose added in, so that the ladybug is on one of its leaves, having the stem curl up my arm. My sister's middle name is Rose, so that would be for her. .

I'm too much of a pansy to get a tattoo.

For the most part, they don't hurt. They're actually a bit on the annoying side when you're getting them done, like a mosquito that won't go away.

I must say my teenie tiny little ladybug is the only tattoo that hurt me, because of the placing.

Then again, I love needles.

I had to get two shots on each arm every Monday and Thursday for two years (that's a lot of two's) to treat my asthma. I hate needles.

You seem like the kinda girl that would chew me up and spit me out.

I like it. (Please ignore those jokes if you hardly know me, as those who do would understand them coming from me, but if you can laugh at that, then go ahead!)

The full extent of my ideas run as;

Sleeve tattoo
Large shoulder design, heartagram background with a skeleton in a top hat holding a half-naked woman. Only the top half of their bodies are shown though.
Just below that, still above the elbow, two skulls with roses wrapping around the arm.
Rest of the arms background will be done the same style as Ville Valo's (this one) (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y250/PhotozOnline/Album%20Two/Ville_Valo_HIM_Lead_Singer.jpg), with filigree wrapping round. And obviously the two I have already.

Leg tattoos
Virgin Mary on my right calf, roses at the bottom.
I want my friends and family to tattoo their own names onto my left calf, and then whatever crazy stuff I dream up for the rest. Like my Sackboy.

Right arm tattoos
I have a 'wedding' tattoo planned. Which is two hearts side-by-side overlapping, inside a coffin with all this Scandinavian-inspired design. Real HIM style. That'll go on my inside forearm.
Got to have something on my shoulder. Dunno what yet. Wouldn't go as far as to have a sleeve there too.

Torso tattoos
"Signum Fidei" on my right chest. Wife's name, kid's name/s on there somewhere. I'd have them write it on themselves.
Small cross on my back, below the neck.
Rib tattoo. Undecided here, had a design, but I'm having second thoughts on it.
And something on my backside. "Asinus Asinum Fricat" (Latin for "The 'behind' rubs the 'behind'"), "Insert Here", whatever. It's there so I can show it to whoever and make 'em laugh.

Quite ambitious, aren't you? That's a lot of ink any way you look at it. Thought of getting a heartagram at one point, but it never materialized. Thinking about going with something Polynesian myself...

Yeah, but that'll take like 10 years to eventually have all of that stuff done. At least.

I love art, and tattoo is just artwork that you show off everywhere you go. I love the idea that you have this piece of art that goes everywhere, that gets seen by somebody every single day.

All my tattoos revolve around a theme. It's a Gothic theme I suppose, but I love Gothic style stuff, so whatever.

I completely understand why you'd want to ink most of your body; I think tattoos - done the right way or course - are a great form of expression.

I'm a big fan of all things Gothic myself. Quite easy to relate to the style if you're a fan of all things both dark and beautiful.

That and after I had my first done I thought to myself "There's no way I'm going to just stop at this."
Once you have one, it's hard to not get more. You want to balance everything out, make a part look more complete, finish off something. Whatever. You'll always think up ways to improve what you have.
I'm planning ahead so I don't end up getting something for the sake of it.

I forgot to add my rib tattoo to my list, still undedicded on what to have there.

A little tattoo, but I don't want to get no job because I have a tattoo
The way I look at it is, if they don't want to hire me because I have tattoos, then I don't wanna work for them.

Well, this is how I think about my statement:

I hate it, that you are rated bad because you have tattoos/piercings/anything else
The person and character under that things remains still the same, no matter how many piercings you have (expect you are some of that crazy people who have over 9000 piercings in there face and tell everyone they are a cat and stuff)
I don't care if the guy in the store has a piercing, or if the workman looks like James Hetfield (awesome beard )

Oh, how I wish I could draw.

Also, this is why I love the job I have.

I can be myself at Bank of America.

YET.

When I worked at toys r us before this job.... I had to buy a sweatband to cover my cancer wribbon... and I could not have any 'unnatural' hair colors... But I did it to my bangs anyways and covered them in a headband.

No tattoos showing, and no piercings showing (but I never took mine out, either way. they never enforced the piercings too much, when it came to my nose. every now and then i had to take my lipring out).

That job.

Sucked.

Ps. I could never chew up or spit out anyone. I just got off a vegetarian 4 year kick, so I'm eating meat, but I have yet to resort to cannabalism. .

Pss. I love mice also. . Hehe.

I've toyed with the idea of getting a heartagram tattoo'd to my eyelid. No real reason why I would, just because.

I work at a shop right now and they don't care about anything. I think that's more down to the manager not enforcing the rules really. I can show off tattoos, have piercings (I have none though), wear as many chains as I like. So there I am being all sweet and friendly with these customers, rocking tattoos and rosary beads, a heartagram chain and all that. Love it.

Better yet, if I ever get round to buying that tattoo gun, then you should let me do it. Just on your foot or something.

I'll practice on myself a lot. On my legs and all that. I'd only tattoo someone else if I felt I was able to do it right, and obviously if they allow me.
If only I could tattoo "I'm ***" to my brother's forehead without him knowing...

Actually, that was an idea I had for a tattoo on myself. Pretty low down on my abdomen, right above the 'special zone', have "I'm ***". Because as soon as some girl's pulling my boxers down, she gets this clear shot of it. It's funny in my head.

Nice tats Lexxie. I especially like the canadian one.

I don't have any, but I have plans to get one eventually. I know what I want, but it will have to be perfect, so I'm waiting to have cash and a trustworthy tattoo artist!

The plan is to have veins (stylised of course) runing down my arm from the inside at elbow height down to the front where my thumb is and have 2 veins reach my thumb and index finger. they will then burst open and be followed by a couple of drips of blood on both my index and thumb. The symbolism is that it represents the creativity flowwing from my veins into (and through) my fingers (that I have drawn with all my life).

I really want one, but am not much of a conventional artist. But the idea I want is based on a Jolly Roger (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=HTx&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=Jolly+Roger&spell=1). For the Skull I want a Jeep grill (http://timshipman.com/images/61%20Jeep/61%20jeep%20grill.jpg)... and the cross bones would actually be axles (http://www.jeepaholics.com/tech/D60/images/d35vsd60.jpg). Just need to find the right artist to draw it for me.

To the OP - I like the first one much better... does the '90 signify something?

Lol

I actually know for certain I will only get one. I know it's said you get one you can't stop, but I would be shocked sideways (xD) if I were to continue after the one tattoo I want.

Pretty rad.
Mine are in the other topic. If they're gonna be merged is there much point in me posting the picture again?

Now that I've got paid I'm gonna have the heartagram redone because it looks horrible. And then I'm gonna have a heartagram put on my finger.
Finally decided on a font for my "Signum Fidei" tattoo, so that's getting done soon.

Big news for me. I went to a tattoo shop where my brother's girlfriend got a tattoo I designed for her, and they want me to make a "flash" (it's an A3 sheet of paper with designs on it, for people to choose what to get) so they can buy it off of me. Varying on amount, detail and such, they could pay out ?60 - ?120. I'm getting into the tattoo industry, I want that so bad.

I always tell myself before I get a tat or plan on getting one.
Can I hide it?
and what would I look like with the tat when I am 80.
I want to be able to hide mine for job interviews and that.
Always good to ask those kind of questions when you plan on getting a tat.

Yeah, don't do what I do. Design a tattoo, then go get it after thinking about it for a minute.
I actually plan on hating it when I'm older. But since I like it now, I'll get them done. It's a big "F you!" to my older self. Especially if I become some boring old git who hates all the stuff I love now.

My legs are devoted to goofy tattoos that're there to laugh at.

On my chest, I have one that says "Objects may look smaller than they appear" and it points downward.

No. Tattoos are a huge turn-off for me.

I would get a tattoo if it was something that meant a lot to me.

Hm.

Maybe get a tattoo of a brain on my head? xD

Note to self: If I'm going to get a tattoo, do not think of the idea myself. xD

Lexxie could be a guy for all you know who posted a pic of something resembling a female.
Seriously, get someone in real life, and even if it's joking it just comes off as creepy and desperate.

Rather be a jerk (your definition: someone who tells you the truth) than trying to woo a "girl" on the internet.
Don't get butt-hurt over it, mate.

LOL.

It would hurt a lot.

Your head is probably the most sensitive (non-sexual) part of your body. >_<

Plus you would hear the drilling of the needle like tooth surgery.

Ok, I'll stop. It hurts just thinking about it. >_<

That would hurt a lot. But I want tats on the parts that are gonna hurt the most. I want one on my spine(or around it) and like on my ankle and that. But I handled the wrist and shoulder. I just love the feel and the sound of getting a tat.2008-12-22 02:46:00

I love the sound of the needle. So many people get scared by it, but that encourages me more to get them.
I'm completely in love with the notion of becoming a tattoo artist. It's my dream job and I aim to do all I can to achieve it.

Worst places for tattoos are the ribs (getting one there), elbow (getting a spiral design on as part of my sleeve) and the collarbone.

You know what you should do?

Shave your head.

Get the tattoo.

Grow your hair back.

Then go to get your head shaved, and the barber will be freaked out and be like, "OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!" and run out crying! XD

No. I know you can take on a tattoo course. But it's only two weeks and costs ?2000. My concern is how much can you learn in two weeks, and will it be worth it at the end? I could pay out, learn whatever and then not be able to advance from that.
