Digital counter issue....

Archive: 4 posts

Hi
I have created a digital counter that counts up from 0 to 9, it's made like tdarb https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=45133-Scalable-digital-counter-UPDATED-with-level, and it works almost as it should, but I'd like to get it to run up or down, depending on whether you press the + or - bottom down, instead of as now where one press gives + 1 or - 1 .

(If you don't understand what I mean, you can try the track "Scalable digital counter? by tdarb, where the counter runs when the handle is held down. In the track "Scalable digital counter? by tdarb you can also get tdarb's version of the counter)

If you're using a selector to select the numbers displayed in your counter, you can wire a Direction Combiner into the Cycle input of the selector to control the selection. An input in the + side of the combiner will increment the selection; in the - side will decrement it. If not, I have absolutely no idea 2011-02-08 18:45:00

Thanks, but I have figure it out myself.
I connected a three-way handle with a + / - distributor. On both poles I set a timer. The timers output connected I with it's own reset input. Finally I collected the two timers outputs in a + / - collector and then to the selector.

Sorry, I haven't been checking as much as i should. Glad you got it sorted out.

Another thing you can do with it is use a counter/timer combo.
Set the timer to .1 second, and put it's output into its own reset, and output to your digital counter/combiner. This will give you a pulser. Set your other counter on the MC to count down, and set it to however far you want it to count. Then put your pulser output into the counters main input, and output it to the input on the pulser. Now set your trigger (button, switch, whatever) to the reset on your main counter.

What should happen is when you hit the trigger it resets/fills the main counter. This tells the pulser to start pulsing, and every time it does, it removes one tick from your main counter while triggering a single count. Once your other counter is empty, the pulser stops. It can be a bit slow this way, but you have a little better control over exactly how far it counts, and it is easy to change and control by adjusting how large your counter is.

You will run into issues with that if the trigger is fired again before the count stops, but with a few switches and another counter, you can create a buffer for that.
