Watch others play levels via online

Archive: 13 posts

This would purely be for the sole purpose of creating, but being able to watch someone play my level without my own interfering would greatly help see any potential problems that someone might encounter and or the behavior or direction most people follow and it goes on and on with the information I could gather to help me modify my level. I think having this ability to view only the levels you create would be sufficient...

I don't know, other creators think this would help?

Well, with their permission of course - the idea of having the creator watch people play without their knowledge seems a little disconcerting.

Best workaround to date is to join your playtester[s] as they play through the level, but turn off your controller, then you can watch, but you can't interfere.

i would love to be able to do this.
also i dont think the person should be able to know they are being observed.
i really dont think this would stop people from playing community levels due to paranoia.
I dont think 99% of the playerbase would even realize it was happening or care if they did.

Assuming it's for watching friends play, you could always dump yourself in a controlinator on hologram, set to follow players. Which gets around the many annoyances of having your controller switched off2011-02-09 08:19:00

I think it would be more appropriate that in order for you to 'look in' on the player playing, that it would need to be a player from your friends list. Once your friend or in this case we could properly specify them as your 'playtester', there can be a popup that notifies the friend that they are being viewed and your friend/playtester can click on accept and move forward. This would eliminate the need to mess with turning off a controller, trying to create something just to view them in your game or what ever other idea that may come abroad. Plus, as a community as a whole, it eliminates the whole privacy issues because A) You have already accepted them as a friend and B) The playtester is giving them there approval prior to testing.

I also doubt there would be any significant lag difference than there already is...

Yeah, I thought this (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=30762-Being-able-to-quot-observe-quot-your-level-being-played)would be very helpful too. 2011-02-10 03:24:00

Nay, that is not an option anymore, as turning off your controller will kick you out of the game "To make room for other players."
Tho not quite sure how it works, as sometimes it will kick me, sometimes it won't, so its pretty random.

Unless of course you already know of a sure way not to get kicked, which is what you're talking about?

I think that only happens in Create Mode, as long as you're testing in Play Mode, you should be okay. Otherwise, just be the host, then you can't get kicked.
