Attack of the Mutant Marshmallows-Method to the Madness?

Archive: 18 posts

I really want the Happie costume, but CANNOT get the score high enough! I tried playing co-op, holding the button, and even stood in the middle and shot everywhere. But still I cannot get the score.

If anyone knows a method to the madness, please tell.

do your best to get rid of all the tiny marshmallows first.. then worry about the big ones.. they move slower, should be easier to avoid..2011-02-07 23:48:00

Try it online with friends, all the scores they get add up to a final score that unlocks the prizes.2011-02-07 23:57:00

I've got some techniques for this one :

- As said above, destroy the smaller ones firstly.
- When you see a big/medium sized marshmallows, try hitting them on a perfect 45? angle. This way, you'll directly hit one of the smaller-sized generated after the explosion.
- When you see there's many small sized marshmallows (Like the sequence where there is like 10 of them, 5 in each half of the screen), put your sackboy in the perfect center of the screen, and point your laser-thing horizontally. This way, you'll directly eliminate half of the marshmallows once they hit the floor. Then, flee from the remaining ones while shooting them.

Still, these techniques keeps making this mini-game kinda hard, and you'll still have to try again some times.

When a lot of small ones are on screen, run to the side and shoot. And yes, aim for the small ones first. If you hit the big ones, there would be more to worry about!2011-02-08 20:31:00

I tried it with QuantumArchitect, very fun, and it took 7-18 tries to get it, but easy. You just have to have people on your friend list who aren't 5-year-olds.

I think getting the top score got us into The Kablamo Club...

----

If your fingers are getting sore(I didn't have to do this), tape down the R1 button and use the right stick freely.

Tape fixes everything.

1. Shoot all the small ones first.
2. Try shooting marshmallows on the same angular lines. (In simpler terms, shot marshmallows that are in a row)
3. Make sure you move.
4. Practice makes perfect. (Well not in this case I guess)
5. There is a clean-up "tool" glitch thingy in this level. Upon close observation, I found out that marshmallows sometimes get destroyed and not turn into two smaller marshmallows. (Especially the ones that are big and those that are close to the walls when destroyed) Another clean-up "tool" is that marshmallows will sometimes move back a layer (I think) when they touch the electrocuted jelly parts at the end. This happens to smaller marshmallows and is quite useful in most cases.

Here's what I did in terms of priority:

- Highest priority: dodging the marshmellows
- 2nd highest priority: blasting the marshmellows, trying to get rid of the smaller ones before trying to get rid of the bigger ones (since I tended to have problems keeping track of multiple moving objects at the same time).

Having other players around does help... unless you start to lag I guess.

Also, don't panic. The little ones don't take too much to blast, and this may just be my imagination but the beam seems stronger the closer it is to your helmet. If you can aim quick enough, sometimes you can take them out right before they're about to hit you.

Of course, it's best not letting them get that close in the first place, but it happens, yeah.

Just make sure you line up lots of the small ones to get rid of in one blast, you can take your time whittling down the big ones. The only major part to worry about is when the whole screen fills up with the small one, make sure you zap most of them before they ever hit the ground. It's simple if you just go to the side and angle the beam to hit them all at once.2011-02-17 13:03:00

Just wanted to add on to what you said, when it is about to hit the ground, the marshmallows will be at a pretty exact horizontal line as you are. Just aim your helmet blaster and blast 'em left or right, and it should clean up a lot of marshmallows.

I used to have huge problems with that level. Then I realized to hold down R1, duh.
Anyways, it still wasn't a cakewalk after that. I believe all the best tips have been covered already. Don't try to be sneaky with dodging. The level takes some time to learn. I barely got my 6000 score and then on the next try I got over 10 000.

Do not shoot randomly...!

Shoot them so that you have less to dodge!

I completed this earlier today. It's a LOT easier when you have 2-4 players. And like everyone else has said, destroy the smaller ones first, then you have less to worry about 2011-02-20 16:45:00
