Hey everyone,
got a little idea for a level, but i need YOUR help (yes you, the one sittin in front of the computer).

Having built a elevator for trying purpose and seeing some building technics on the site here i came up with the idea of making a Metroid like level.

The main gameplay will be searching throu a big maze (spaceship, alienplanet, whatsoever) finding keys, alot of tricky platforming and some mobs. ending in a big boss fight. i dont want to make a direct referenz to the Metroid Franchise but i want to capture the same feeling.

The sad part is: i havent realy played any of the metroid games myselfe, so i would be glad if anyone who played them (especialy the old ones on NES, SNES and so on) would give me some help. Maby something that was impresive when you played it. memorable moments. maby some layouts for a room youd like to see.

Any help will be greatly aprecheated. And please, dont hate me just because i dont know the game, yet want to recreate it.

It would be much simpler, and a lot less illegal, to simply watch videos on youtube.

Thats what i did and im already filling in some enemies into the level. Heat is up at 1/4 already only with the level itself, no detail yet but with all the stuff to get you around (no Gates yet thou). The level is huge on my opinion and it realy looks like a metroid lvl. Many secrets and stuff. Should give it some replay value.

Im a little affraid of building the Mid-LVL boss couse it'll be a boss that attacks you from the back-plane. Yeah realy! the whole lvl is on the front-plane and he'll try to smash you with his claw from the back. The way i'll try is to do e sequenz of disolving material so it looks like he swings its arm at you and the last spawn of this sequenz will be the solid claw.

Also the last Boss will have 3 Stages and will be nerfwrecking both for me to build and for you to play.

Man i hope my lvl turns out like i picture it in my mind. If so, then Azure Palase can go home.

Bold statement i know. hehe

That does actually sound pretty interesting, but I wouldn't knock on the Azure Palace just yet.

As the saying goes, don't count your chicken before they hatch :arg:

I'm not normally a piracy advocate, but I would recommend downloading and playing through the NES and SNES metroid games. If Nintendo had a reasonably priced alternative, I'd recommend purchasing them, but $5.00 for a NES game is a bit ridiculous.

You really should play through the games if you're going to create a level inspired by it, though!

You can download all the classic Nintendo games via the Wii shop channel. (all though, this only works if you have a Wii, for obvious reasons)

YouTube, google images, etc etc.

Edit: The level doesn't show up for me. I found you, Shanmuir, but I only see the "Tower of Trials" level.

it doesnt show up couse im still working on it. its hell lota work for what i have in mind. right now im working at the mid-lvl boss. a red dragon that bursts throu the backwall (the one you look at as you play. second thin layer from the front so to speak), holds himself with one hand and the tail and tries to hit you with the other arm. im on that since the weekend. building up ever body piece and getting the mechanics to work takes its time. if finaly managed to get the "start" right, with the wall getting broken first, then the dragonhead coming up and finaly holding on the ledges. now i need tweak everything a bit so it doesnt look out of place. im a bit proud of the way you scare away the dragon. he has some weakpoints on his tail and hand and if you jump on them his healthbar shrinks (yes a healthbar, it looks just like a boss healthbar in megaman ^^).

after that im going to build the final boss wich will have 3 parts in fighting him.
and the rest of the temperaturbar will be filled with decoration.

Hey everyone,
has been a long time since i last posted an update on my level. I had a little creativity blackout, but now im back. I'm working on my level again and it comes along nicely. Thanks to the MGS pack im changing some of my ideas for the level. Right now im working on the switcheridoos for the doors. I also premade some decoration objects for later.
I got a problem thou; i have my bosses almost finished on paper and bringing them into the game shouldnt be a problem, but, i have no ideas for for random enemys. so if anyone of you has a idea for a enemy that fits into a facility / space / (fantasy, becouse of the dragons) themed level and can be ignored (just jump over or crawl under) and / or be destroid (paintination prefered) let me know.

I hope some of you are still interested in my lvl

i'll try to upload some pics soon, so stay sharp.

Try to aim for confined rooms like the ones in VR Training for ship areas, and you'll be one step closer.2009-01-10 22:21:00
