Checkpoint Follower
Archive: 8 posts
I want to make a checkpoint follow you throughout a section of my level; similar to the ones in the story mode where the giant chicken is chasing you. So far I got it to follow and float above the character with a Follower sensor and Anti Grav tweaker, but I still can't get it to respawn the player after you die. What am I doing wrong? | 2011-02-07 22:28:00 Author: nicko786 Posts: 14 |
Maybe making a checkpoint move prevents it from respawning? Try making an invisible piece of holo material follow the sackperson instead, and glue the checkpoint to that. | 2011-02-07 22:53:00 Author: EliminatorZigma Posts: 173 |
Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work or I did it wrong. Are my sensors set up correctly? | 2011-02-08 05:54:00 Author: nicko786 Posts: 14 |
Well it depends on where the checkpoint is in relation to sackboy. If the player never crosses in front of the checkpoint, it may not be activated (bordering circle lit up). Have you activated the checkpoint? (they can be manually activated - just hook a wire up to it from a battery or a player sensor or any other logic) | 2011-02-08 06:06:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Yeah the checkpoint is hooked up to a player sensor that you HAVE to activate. No getting around it. The checkpoint lights up too. I like that I got it to follow the player during the scene, but if they somehow happen to die, they go back to the previous checkpoint to a part of the level that is already destroyed lol. | 2011-02-08 06:13:00 Author: nicko786 Posts: 14 |
Hmmm... very odd... | 2011-02-08 06:20:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Yeah and it's bugging me because this is the last major thing I need to fix before I publish it! Granted I can always edit it after I publish it, I did want to at least figure this out. Woo hoo! Nevermind I figured it out! Not sure what it was actually. There was an old player sensor hooked up to the microchip on the checkpoint that probably wasn't doing anything so I removed that and I believe problem solved! Publishing soon! I'll post the link here shortly. Thanks! http://lbp.me/v/xkxnbk Check it out! | 2011-02-08 06:23:00 Author: nicko786 Posts: 14 |
