Cybernetic Adventures Alpha: Hardware HQ

Archive: 21 posts

This platforming adventure is the first of my brand new level series. The level features such various gameplay as bouncing pads, grappling hook, jetpack, creatinator, and more. As for the visuals, it features the moving layer glitch, where you'll be seeing the flying cars move at the beginning of the level all thanks to the Anti-gravity and move tool, and a lot of holograms. Just like my hit LBP1 level series, "The Hero Chronicles", there will be eight levels (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Sigma, and Omega). Each level features cinematic scenes, boss battles, secrets to find to give you extra points, and different gameplays. Since this level is the first of the series, it is also an easy level making it enjoyable for all players. The thermo of this level is already 99.9% full, but I'll do the best I can to give this level an update as suggested by any of you. Enjoy the first of my new level series.

Special Thanks to:
- L1GhTmArE, Sabre_, Jaquan1254, Midnight_heist, and Bloo_boy, for beta play testing this level.

-And Mm, for making LBP2 an excellent sequel to my favorite PS3 game ever (LBP2 now tops that) with amazing tools, cool backgrounds, materials, and objects, and wonderful musics.

Check out the pictures of the level (more coming soon):

This level really made me look foward to this series, Interesting Characters, Most creative names ive seen so far, Very well made cutscenes, nice smooth transitions, Creative Platforming, Amazing Background, Great use of Power Ups, Challenging Sections, great Storytelling, A puzzling boss fight, Very well made Acting, Good Character design. This level has everything, and I cant even imagine whats next. This is by far your best work and I look foward to more.

Great job, keep up the good work.
Will try this full version soon, I cant wait to see what new Installments and updates you made to it.

Fantastic level, seems like a great start to an epic saga! The only thing I had any issues with was your cutscenes were maybe a second or three too long here and there and didn't sync perfectly, the paintinator one for instance. Other than that great job!
If you wouldn't mind checking out my levels Wailing Caverns and Aztec Maze, I'd love some feedback. Thanks!

Thanks, Shawneboi, Bloo_boy, and Birquah. Here's what has slightly changed in the level's first update. As suggested by Birquah, I shortened a few cinematic scenes. Also the super shortcut glitch has been removed as suggested by one of my beta testers.

Just played your level, good intro, not sure about the a or alpha symbol in the sign above. Typo in the intro for good entrance "two". Not sure if you want the word test placed twice so closely (think it is not correct grammar...but then again I am from the south so not sure if you should take my word for it). The starting of the moving items to get up seemed just a little bland, not the grabby up but the part before and after. Liked the bouncy parts, but I missed what he said on the bounce before you go back a little (the very high bounce) because I bounced out of his range...and he may have said something about going back? The arrow to go forward was still visible when the others show go back, you may want a ittle extra logic to turn that red for a second again, the same with the blue one when you go back forward above the red one pointing down. Good 3D in the background, good transport design and univerial serial joke. Liked the next few test, but as always I hate grabbing and swinging from teh ceiling...but that may just be me. THe jetpack test was fun, the paintgun wasok, shooting the top one was just aiming up because it moves so fast, not sure if that is an issue, just seemed pointless skill wise, not that i have any. The lady fixing was funny, but when I moved back to teh right to get a better aim, the movie scene and all kicked back in again. THe two test after were good, the background after the platrominator was nicely done. Good job on the bouns points and grabby windmill...one or two of the blades seemed to miss the grabby? Also knew I should have grabbed that point earlier, but I fell down before I could. The virus shooter was nice, maybe it could aim a bit faster (just a tad). Loved the video display, well done, the frames could have moved faster, but it felt like it was supposed to be oldschool fake video display style...but it kept going on afterwards, turning it off at the end may add a little. Next boos was a great balance of the things learned, it may have been a tad easy, then again I could just have mad skills at that point from all the training earlier in the level. As for the ending, perfect! Don't worry about F4F, Midnight helped me out, just returning the favor. All I would do is spruce up the begining few seconds (of gameplay), the typo, put something more with the grab ceiling, like a mid platform, so it is not just grabbing the ceiling, tweak the girl retalking, and perhaps make that super fast platform do something else like up and down or rotate with one side vunerable..not an issue really...of if you did tweak the boss just try speeding him up.2011-02-09 04:28:00

This level is brilliant. Awesome cinematic, great all-around gameplay, great visuals, great dialogue and characters!
Boss didn't feel much alive, but I think It's still good boss.

Only problem I found was that you didn't make first cutscene go once.
I was strolling around to find last switch and accidentally went too much left that I activated the cutscene again.

Overall, It's going to be blast. Recommended for everyone. Yay and heart!

Yup yup.
Totally agree with all the good/bad points stated above by you five.
Cool stuff.
Biggest annoyance was unskippable cutscenes on replays.
How many secret green hexagon bubbles are there in the level?

Got me psyched for the series!
Does the job of an intro level very well imo.

We're starting to see some great levels from the community now!

Awesome, I've added this level to my queue and I'll play it and review it tonight ^^

In return, could you please try and review my level, Bounce Pad Level 1.

It's much appreciated ^^

Now the first cinematic scene and the scene with the paintinator test only plays once. I thought all of the scenes are only played once, but thanks for the heads up. Also, I added the number of secrets found, so that players can get a track on how many there are (There are six of them). And I almost forgot to fix the word "two" to "too" earlier so that's done already. One thing that mysteriously changed in the recent update is the water maze that for some reason, the pathway lights turned red. Don't know how did that happened though, but at least it didn't affect the gameplay. That's what has been changed in the level's second update.

Really liked the level!

To be honest I don't have anything to suggest.
Maybe it would be better to improve the aim of this gun, which turns back to the middle when you don't press anything. I think that's more annoying than challenging.

I got excited for this series and I'm looking forward to the next part!

So, I gave it a 'Yay'

Fantastic level that feels like the beginning of an epic saga.
Really good visuals: I was suprised by the moving airships in the background. Great use of the background in the spider shooting game.
Diverse and fun gameplay. Every power up is used to good effect. Nice jetpack test. Great flow.
Good cast of funny NPC's.
Very suitable music & sound effects.

I'll keep an eye out for new installments!

Great stuff! This level is really refined. I love the aesthetics, and you put the different lbp2 mechanics to work well. The design of the buildings in the background gave the impression that the world is bigger than you can really see, and the background objects fit well.

I really don't have anything negative to say. I think you did a really nice job with this level, I gave it a happy face and a heart.

Wait... That was amazing...

I loved that you used almost every feature (no test using sackbots but it wasn't needed)
Some parts were tough like the paintinator. The top one was a bit fast. All in all it was still a SUPERB level! I cant wait for the next!

If you could try any of my levels, that would be great! My LBP.me link is in my signature! Thanks a lot!

This was a pretty well designed and presented level. I really enjoyed the visuals and the gameplay. The tests kept each section feeling unique and new, while tying them together with a common theme. My only feedback beyond what has already been presented above this post is whether or not you made any recent adjustments. I played this level again yesterday to refresh my memory prior to dropping feedback and to see if I could yank anything constructive out of the air that I saw from a second viewing. What happened was that starting from the tram ride into the building, several cut-scenes and talking mouths glitched up. They were triggering and repeating when they shouldn't and other things. I am not sure what happened - considering my first experience was flawless. If you didn't change anything it must have been a freak occurence. If you made any update it could be related. I did not have an opportunity for a third run through to check for a repeat problem as my daughter was promised some time on the PS3.2011-02-16 19:33:00

I think what caused those random problems is that the thermo of the level is 99.99% full. That's my big guess. Not just that, but I read one of the reviews saying that the door supposed to disappear after the paintinator test is cleared, so I had a feeling it has to do with the thermo. Does anyone know that's a problem? In a meantime, if you encounter any problems in this level, return to pod and play the level again.

Wow...I had a lot of fun playing this...you get a smiley, level heart, and author heart.

I didn't run into any problems...so I don't have any suggestions for improvements. I'll just mention some stuff that was cool that I remember.

First, great level design, the materials you picked really worked well together. The test story line worked great for throwing lots of diferent power ups at the player and this kept the gameplay fresh and interesting throughout. My 2 favorites were the jet pack and grabinator tests.

The scenes wth the paper airplanes flying overhead and tram car were great...and in general all the cut scenes/characters were done really well. I thought the length and number of scenes was just right. I can relate to the lazy bot...swimming is tough on the circuitry!

One little nit-pick is I question choosing snake for the main character...he's too iconic...I yelled Snakkkkeeee!!! at the tv whenever he appeared.

I liked the hexagons for the score givers, it fit nicely in with the level and was a welcome change from prize bubbles. I laughed when you blew up the music at the final battle.

The final battle itself was well done, it was clear to me what to do and it was funky as promised. Would have been nice if it was a little longer....but the level itself is so packed I can only assume the thermo is near max.

Hopefully there's a sequel in the works.

Man, I just played it and it was awesome! Great platforming with a huge variety of obstacles... The materials and design gave the level a nice clean look and the cutscenes were very well made. The costumes were great and gave the characters personality. Really a great level. It didn't have too much of an effect on the gameplay, but a few of the cameras could've been set to 'not require all players' so that the camera follows the leading player (in the big bouncing areas) so that you can see the switches when you are up in the air and the other players aren't in the camera zone yet. Otherwise, the level worked perfectly and was really fun to play! I will be looking forward to the next level in the series 2011-02-25 17:16:00

Thanks for awesome feedbacks, Fullofwin and Bender. I updated this level with some fixes. I removed a few objects in the level, so that the thermo can be lowered a bit and that fixes the random problems. Also, the second row of bouncing pads seems to have you jump way too high that you can easily pass the first test the cheating way (according to the pics I saw in anyone's album), so I shortened the bouncing length of that row.

I'm a halfway done with "Cybernetic Adventures Beta", hopefully, I'll publish it in mid-March.

Great level! Had alot of fun going through this meeting all the great characters and looking at the well made scenery. The bit with the 5 switches and the jetpack had a bit of a problem, i activated them all and then it went to speech and i got killed because i couldn't dodge! Other than that it played great, good boss and i cant wait for the next part.

Thanks for the experience!

Thanks, FriedGoat. Glad you like the scenery and characters.

Guess what, I'm almost done with Beta, It'll probably be done next Friday. All that's left in that level is the boss battle, the end clip, and additional visuals, and I need to have my friends beta test it first when I'm almost done. It'll be called "Cybernetic Adventures Beta: Insectiod Garden", and it features the grappling hook gameplay, a dragonfly ride, and there's plenty more where that came from.

Since Alpha surprisingly has over a thousand plays and a lot of great response to the start of my newest level series, I guess I can give out a bit of info of what I'll be planning for the rest of the series. I won't spoil it all until they're published, they're just a small info of my future levels.

BETA: As I mentioned earlier, it has grappling hook gameplay. It'll have a forest scenery with some cybernetic mods.

GAMMA: This one will be a steampunk themed level. It'll have the creatinator gameplay.

DELTA: This level will have the grabinator gameplay. It'll have the "Factory of Better Tomorrow" background.

EPSILON: Not sure what it'll be like just yet, but I do have a plan to make this one have high and low gravity.

ZETA: Most likely take place in the skies.

SIGMA: Just like the semi-final levels of my other two level series, "The Hero Quest", and "The Hero Chronicles", it'll most likely have the four elements, not sure how I'm going to fit that in "The Cosmos" background just yet, but I'll figure it out when I'm done with Zeta.

OMEGA: I'll make this one even more epic than "The Hero Chronicles LV8 Phantom Planet Part 1 and 2".
