Hey folks, I've been chugging away at what will be my first LBP2 release under my main account. It's called Wizard, and it's a platformer, shooter, and puzzler all in one. I originally posted it here (http://www.littlebigplanetarium.com/index.php?/topic/214-wizard/).

Wizard is incredibly light on story, but it's ridiculously fun to romp around with the custom controls. You are transported into a prison cell, with no backstory. All you know is that you have these magical powers and incredible abilities that will foster your escape. Discover your powers as you work and fight your way to freedom.

Pictures for those visually inclined:

(Keep an eye out for secret orbs. They are scattered all over the place.

There are no pictures of the enemy duels, but I'd prefer you experience that first hand. It progresses nicely, as does the way that you are introduced to different moves and abilities.

Controls:

Left Stick : Move
Right stick : Aim
R1 : Fire magic spell
R1 (hold) : Charge spell, which is stronger that the normal spell.
R2 (hold)* : Beam of Energy
L2 : Sprint
L1 + Left stick : Roll (in the direction pressed)
L1 + Left Stick + x : Super Roll Jump (press x at the end of a roll)
L2 : Sprint
L2 + x : Long Jump
Δ : Use Health Pickup

*The Beam of Energy is not yet in the level. It has to be introduced yet!

Strategies:

Rolling makes you temporarily invulnerable to attacks.
Performing a roll jump will allow you to reach platforms that would otherwise be too high.
Health packs are hidden about the level. Seek them out to keep your inventory full. Using one will refill 1/3 of your Health bar.
Sprinting and using spells will decrease your Magic bar. They all have different effects, so keep your eye on it.
The Charge spell requires at least 1/3 of your Magic bar be full. It will take away 1/3. It will also lock onto nearby targets, and can strike multiple enemies at once.
To initiate a Beam of Energy, which is a devastating attack with limited range, you need at least 2/3 of your Magic bar full. It will drain for as long as it is held, and will turn off when you run out.

Testing:

I have put the level, in its incomplete state, out there for testing. Since I didn't want all of LBP2 playing the incomplete version, I put the level behind a lockbox.

You need to go into this level: Lockbox. Go Away! (http://lbp.me/v/xg46de)
Then enter the following code: 9371

You will be level linked into the level.

Enjoy, and thanks! -Comph

I noticed in the Recent Activity that you modified your lockbox... now it seems I know what that was for! ;p2011-02-07 16:33:00

Hope I'm meant to put this here . . .

Okay, so how do I say this without sounding like a drooling maniac?

This was amazing.

Totally blew me away from the get-go. Nicely laid out, interesting, engaging platforming, there are so many controls but you lead us by the hand nicely (without always telling us what to do. I love that) and everything feels very smooth.

Difficulty wise, i'd say it's spot on with the tutorial missions in most of the rpgs i play, a good level of difficulty. I had to find my own way, but you left plenty of clues about where that might be!

And it is just beautiful. I can't wait to see more of this!

Looks like another AAA comph level in the making!

I will play this later today, i'm intrigued and baffled by what would necessitate the inclusion of an 'Options' button on your start menu.
I find it funny that you would put that in there, unless you actually went through the time and trouble of putting in a full options menu that normal games have.

Well, it's not functional yet, but it will include a difficulty setting and a gamma tweaker. I realized after the first few rounds of testing that some people cannot see dark levels at all!

No problems to report squire, all works swimmingly. Looking forward to the finished. Are you thinking of level linking and using this as a semi-tutorial? (I'm assuming your thermo isnt still half empty here). You introduce the control scheme at such a nice relaxed pace, it'd be great to have a big level to get stuck into once you've gotten familiar with the abilities......2011-02-09 13:39:00

Yea, I had people come into my level in progress and tell me they couldn't see anything, supposedly it is something to do with the television being HD or SD. HD tv's are apparently too dark, gamma setting does help though.

Very cool, looking forward to it being finished

Are the enemies supposed to be able to shoot through walls? The main character can only shoot through a few it seems, maybe I just didn't notice.. Anyway, some spots that look like cover don't give any cover and you're only really safe if you aren't in the same layer as the enemy. Just letting you know incase that wasn't planned

Ok I played this and I have to say man this was a pretty sweet level. The character handled nicely and the way you are presented with tasks to "learn" the controls was very cool. It made it easy and seemless to get aquainted with the controls. Fair amount of difficulty and the level design was well done, I know it's a beta phase, but it sure looks great so far! One thing I want to mention is the charge spell, could you modify it so the player has to hold down the "charge" button, and then it fires when let go? I loved using this spell by the way, but it was hard to actually time where my attack was going when I was frantically layer changing and then misfiring sometimes. Not a huge problem to be honest, but I would like that feature if it's all the same. On another note, the Prius level was awesome and I noticed a huge duck sticker in the street....2011-02-11 17:56:00
