How to promote your levels without beeing annoying?
Archive: 10 posts
Hi, After spending quiet a lot of time in the editor, Im curious about one thing and I suppose Im not the only one. You probably know the situation: 1 - You create a level. You spent tens of hours tweaking it. 2 - You publish it. 3 - And when you check next day, there are 3 play. And after one or two weeks, you might get 7 plays and thats it. The level gets out of "New levels" sections. But because nobody is playing it, it can not have good ratings. Now my questions is - is there some way, ho to promote the level, without beeing atually annoying spammer? Because getting 100+ or even 1000+ players there is really difficult and actually demotivating :-/ Why to build new levels, if you have to be really lucky to get them among people? Any tips? Thanks | 2011-02-07 11:38:00 Author: Agarwel Posts: 207 |
Soon as it up play it take pics and then go on what ever sites you want and tell everyone, And make sure your level have a good name and good patch? that give a idea what the level maybe about. and they is always spotlight if you make somthing really good? and just dont worry about it plays are not everythings | 2011-02-07 11:50:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |

What worked for me in the past was leaving comments and feedback on other levels. I never advertised my levels on their comments, but just left feedback for the levels I played. When I did this I seemed to get more plays. Level authors and other players like to see constructive feedback on their levels. Whenever I see a constructive comment on my levels I almost always go to that persons levels and give them a try. I hate it when people leave an advertisement for their level on mine if it is not a relevant part of a comment though, I usually delete advertisement comments and don't visit their levels. With the lbp.me integration I could only imagine this strategy working even better, since your comments and activity are online. | 2011-02-07 22:35:00 Author: Osprey71 Posts: 93 |

Thanks Post your level in the Level Showcase. Do F4F and by that don't just select F4F and sit back and wait. Go and play other F4F levels here in the Level Showcase, give constructive feedback and ask them to honor their F4F by visiting your level thread / level. The more work you do, the more plays and feedback you should get to help you make the level even better. | 2011-02-07 22:45:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
and just dont worry about it plays are not everythings Says the person with 5000+ hearts and thousands of plays on each level. Anyway, I have to say I'm in the same boat as you Mr. OP person. I just reached 100 plays on my level and that's a huge milestone for me Well, actually on an old account I made a terrible level that got 1000+ plays, it had you killing yourself for points. I'll probably end up remaking it "for teh lulz". | 2011-02-07 22:55:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
I think i need to make a new psn (and new ID here) to release all my levels from now on to counteract my me-ness... at least temporarily. | 2011-02-07 23:04:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |
I feel as though my hearts limit the response I can give on this topic, however I do have near 1500 visits... (I was a horrible builder back then...) Just build a game that takes a long time to play. One person goes in and it might attract more. So 1 person in it for 20 minutes is better than 2 people in it for 5 minutes. | 2011-02-07 23:04:00 Author: Alexxerth Posts: 233 |

The problems with this is obviously the thermometer and keeping people interested. I found that very small things that take a few minutes to complete or keep people interested work best. The only place I have with more than 1k visits is a theme park of sorts with assorted rides... I hate it because I was an idiot back then and it was horribly built or used other peoples creations, though at that time I was proud at building a circle with a motorcycle I didn't built going in circles around it.... Come to think of it I could probably rebuild the entire park in 5 minutes... this got off topic fast... | 2011-02-07 23:51:00 Author: Alexxerth Posts: 233 |
