Semi-Cyber Super Castle

Hola! Ack. I decided it's best to test out the excellence of LBP2 by making some kind of race assault course with bounce pads and the grapple hook... you know, for the sake of being infatuated with such an 'awesome idea'. And after my Homestar Runner level went balls-up I guess it was only time to make a new hideous level. So here it is.

Alright, it's a little big challenging and a little bit short... mainly because I ran out of ideas toward the end (but I'm planning on making a part 2 with a level link. WHOAOAOA) so perhaps this is more of a demo than an actual level... whoops. Still, there's some goodness to be found here or there in the metaphorical obscured pockets of decency.

Alright, I played this level. Got second best high score, huzzah!

The gameplay is good, classic bounce pads and grappling hook. Awesome obstacles and
*SPOILER* surprising cameo */SPOILER*
Visual and theme were great, but chosen bright green weather annoyed my eyes a little.
Only big problem I find is lack of checkpoint at start. I died at first plasma hazard in the race and I had to respawn at beginning.
I give it a yay! I'd like you to try my F4F level in my signature and leave some feedback!

I'll definitely stick a checkpoint after the in/out moving stones in the circuit wall, instead of one just above the first grappling hook powerup... I think that's more suitable.
As for the 'bright green' thing, I'll check it out and change what I can. Or darken it a bit. Hurrah.

Breezy...the gameplay in this level is intense and challenging. This in mind...it may not be a bad idea to use infinite life checkpoints instead of the regular ones. Also it is a common habit of some creator to use all three layers at all times. Unfortunately this can make certain areas harder to see and can make a level look very flat. The level was a bit dark in certain areas as well...in particular when you have to grapple the spinning circles coming out of the ceiling.

Not bad, just needs some work.

Good job, this is the type of level that I really like. Fast paced, challenging, and fun. I only had a few issues and suggestions. First, on the part where you have to grapple to rotating circles sticking half way out of an electric ceiling, the race timer covered up the first circle unless you get right beside the gap. Also, the lighting in general made the grapple-able part harder to make out. I would suggest using a color that makes it stand out a bit more as something to grab. After that, consider making it so that the player will go straight threw the doors before the end of the race. Jumping all that way just to hit the ceiling and have to do it again is a bit unnecessary, but still just a minor inconvenience. Also, it is easy to miss the last text bubble if you run straight to the goal. Maybe trigger it a little sooner. Again, a minor annoyance that doesn't reduce the fun factor any.

Over all, I thought you did a great job. The visuals could have been a bit better, but personally I don't mind. When I am flying through the level anyway, it is the game play that matters and that is where your level shines. I played through it twice and stole second place from the other guy who posted here! I couldn't beat this level, because of the lack of lighting in the grappling hook obstacle with the electric holograms, but interesting level.

VISUALS:
Despite the lack of lighting, the material choices are good. The knight character looks cool too.

SOUND:
Good custom music.

GAMEPLAY:
Interesting platforming and fun use of grappling hook and bouncing pads.

OVERALL:
A fun racing platforming game. A yeah vote.

Breez: Very fun level. I died a couple of times but wanted to keep trying to finish it. My only complaint is that the part where you have to grapple the spinning circles to get over the hazard. It was a little too dark to see where I was grabbing and a couple of times it wouldn't let me grab anything. Maybe thats the whole point of that section and im just lame.

Anyways over all nice level with cool music to match. It felt a little mega man'esq to me. Very fun.

Thanks for all your comments! I'm definitely going to play your levels, I've been occupied with Heavy Rain for the past couple days. Dangit.

I guess I'll have to get to making better lighting and camera angles, just to make sure the objective is in plain sight, or maybe just make it slightly easier? And less flat.

I thought this level was well designed and the movie clips were good alongside the music. I'm not sure why you decided to place circuit boards as flooring, or the green sequences for ground, but I think it may have been because you didn't have the materials you wanted? If not, I don't think they work to well with the nice castle theme you had there, that is what ruined it for me, but overall, not a bad level, it's worth playing.

+ I liked the setup story more than most. I played another castle themed level with a night at the beginning. Yours was slightly better.
- Improve the lighting on the part where you grapple rotating circles. I can't see if they are grab-able.
