I can't seem to do it.

I can't make a level.

I have ideas sure, but I find it impossible to make these ideas a reality in a level. Every time I make something it seems to just get really bad then I delete it. It makes me frustrated that I cant come up with a simple level. Any tips for frustrated creator like myself. I would really like to be able to make a somewhat decent level.

And if you want you can check out my "levels". My LBP.me link is in my sig!

Thanks for any help in advance!

Play the best levels you can find, analize the creators' techniques on all, environment, creatures, contraptions, lighting, etc.
Learn by watching, in no tim, you'l pick up on the tricks and techniques those creators use, and'll learn on how to use them yourself.

I'm not saying to plain out copy people, just to learn how they make stuff, so you can see how to make what you want to make.

Hope that helps!

Omg I've been having the exact same problem for like the past three months. There are level tutorials in the community and I'm sure there's some people that could help you make logic stuff or w/e. But for the aesthetic value, I try using the scale graph thingy and adding stickers and decorations to sections I've finished and trying to keep a single theme throughout the level with just a few materials and... uhhhh hm I guess that's it. Lol not much help I know but if it makes you feel any better, you're not alone

It's the same as any other creative endeavor; your first efforts aren't likely to be very good but over time you get better. You just have to keep at it! 2011-02-14 23:11:00

I know exactly how you feel. I get the same problem. I've discovered that if I write down my idea and then break it down into smaller tasks, I can at least get something done.

A decent level will take a couple of days to make at the very least. A good level can easily take a week or more. Having smaller goals lets you feel like you are getting things done, keeps you on track, and keeps things from getting overwhelming.

That last one was where I had trouble. I would have a great idea, and just get lost and overwhelmed by it not coming together right. It felt like I was just getting nowhere with it.Once I started taking the extra step of putting down the controller and writing a brief plan, things started coming together more. Having a more full picture of the level helps.
