Question about Hologram material...

Archive: 2 posts

I am currently working on an 8-bit, zelda styled game and I ran into a speed bump. I am making the different animations for down/up and left/right. I am doing this by attaching batteries to a sequencer and than attaching those to their corresponding sprite. Here is where the problem lies. Whenever the new hologram material lights up it causes the texture of the material to move. This has made it so that sometimes there will be a random line in the sprite and sometimes some parts of the sprite will be brighter than others. The animation otherwise looks great, but this messes it up and makes it look terrible. Can anyone out there tell me how to stop those lines on the Hologram material from jumping all over the place?2011-02-07 02:32:00

There are two things you can do to adjust this. First, the holo material has an animation speed - you can set that to zero and it will stop moving. However, when you do this the lines in the holo will stop where ever they are - which may be right in the middle of your shape or image. So you can adjust this with the UV tool in your tool bag:

The UV tool is used in LBP2 to move and rotate textures found on materials, including animated ones, to give you more visual control of how materials look in your level.
To use the UV Tool, hover over a material and press http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/images/2/21/X_button.png (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/File_button.png). Now, use http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/images/2/23/L_stick.png (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/File:L_stick.png) to move the texture about, and http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/images/e/ef/R_stick.png (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/File:R_stick.png) to rotate it.
When you are happy with your edit, press http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/images/1/11/C_button.png (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/File:C_button.png) to deselect the material.
