Mature Section

Archive: 24 posts

Okay, by now you probably know about all the rampant moderation going on within LBP and I've begun to think why there isn't a mature section for levels.
The reasons for moderation seem to be:
a). Copyright infringement
b). Mature content

Now, sometimes the mature content is flying penises and other times it plays an important part in the level, for example the flaming corpses in "Welcome to Pleasantville" (which has already been moderated) or the soldier who gets his leg blown off in my level "All Quiet on the LittleBigPlanet".

But the point is, LBP would greatly benefit from a mature section because it would give creators more freedom, and if the section is restricted it will prevent any 5 year olds from being exposed to the objectionable content.

So be it...It's a great idea! A mature little moon revolving around LittleBigPlanet. I have many corpses, blood, and people on fire in my levels. None of them have been moderated yet 2008-11-16 09:55:00

Well if you lie about your age and see content you don't like, you shouldn't have a right to complain.

An idea would be to when publishing a level mark it as mature in the same way that a heart, ace, complete, or collect all items would, so people know if its going to be all blood and guts. An easier way would be simply to say that it contains gore and is not suitable for minors in the description!2008-11-16 12:33:00

Descriptions would be fine if you could guarantee people would actually read them.

I think a mature section would be a great idea as it would be great to have some more gory levels:eek:2008-11-16 12:44:00

It won't happen.
LittleBigPlanet will always be rated E, so a mature section will never happen. Everyone (As the E rating stands) is equal and the same in the game.
And like Tyler said anyone can lie about their ages.

And also, why are you guys discussing inappropriate things?(The shape of the moon) This is still an E forum -_-

no you cant lie about age, if a 5 year old makes an account and state that he is five then u can put an ages filter that stop he from playing it, like when on war hawk, my account age was 15 and it would not let me online, cause its a 162008-11-16 17:31:00

Lol. Fail.

You can't make a master account, unless you state that you're over 18. And to make a sub account, you need to have a master account already activated, and by the way you were talking about it, I'm guessing yours wasn't a sub account..

And secondly - Of course you can lie about your age. "if a 5 year old makes an account and state that he is five", well, you don't state that you're 5 then do you? That's how to lie about your age -.-'

Yeah the machine has no way to know your age other than what you tell it. A mature section will never happen due to LBP being a E-rated "Family Game".2008-11-16 18:11:00

You bicker about a topic based on maturity yet LittleBigPlanet is intended for all ages (hence the E for everyone) there should be no such section for ?mature?. Some people must grow up and forget about making inappropriate stages.2008-11-16 19:16:00

I wonder if the Grandmaster Sensei will have her levels moderated for having blood in her levels.

Some people must grow up and forget about making inappropriate stages.

Bad feeling have I.

We're not just talking about flying penises...We're also talking about MATURE things such as blood and gore...So you can't just tell people to "grow up" if they post a level full of blood >_>

I was of the thought that "maturity" involved rising above and reliance on crudities, and instead forgoing them for more constructive uses, and that deferring to them was a sign of lack of maturity.

LittleBigPlanet is a return to the innocuous and innocent as a source of simple fun, where anybody and everybody can pick up the controller and have a good time, regardless of age. Also, a return to a child's type of sheer creativity as a fuel for the fun.

That doesn't mean that every level has to be World of Color's happy, carefree, vivid pastel world, there is room for seriousness, such as Azure Palace and others. However, it's a return to the simpler. A "mature section" not only forgoes it, but runs contrary.

Finally, I'd rather not block of what could be a very enjoyable experience, mechanically, but restricted due to some "mature" elements laid on top of it. That happens all too often in games.

I don't think that there needs to be a mature section. Sony just needs to limit those killjoy mods for what they have the authority to do, and mod things a bit more gracefully. Warnings would be nice.2008-11-17 07:43:00
