Rotating trap door obsticle - help
Archive: 3 posts
I am trying to create a rotating series of blocks trap like the one in the first marvel pack level. Basically it is a series of say 6 blocks that rotate in a sequence from one to another , the first pattern they are flat and form a walk way, the second pattern they spin for a turn or two and end up on their side, if you were on the platforms when they shift sequence it will dump you into a gas pit. I am trying to figure out what to do to make the platforms spin one way from flat to sideways and then the opposite way when it shifts from sideways back to flat, with a pause in between each cycle. I am also looking for a way to make a couple trap doors that are closed and if the player stands on them for too long they open (90 degrees down) to drop the player into gas, then they return to original position. So far I have a player sensor tied to a timer tied to a wobble bolt. I can get the sensor to set off the timer and the bolt to move the door but A) it won't stop opening & closing, B) the timer won't reset Any help would be greatly appreciated. | 2011-02-06 08:21:00 Author: Gutz Posts: 175 |
1. You could use a Wobble Bolt in the middle of each platform. A Rotation of 630 with an Angle of 135 has the platforms start out flat, spin a few times, and end up on their side. Adjust the Pause setting to change how long the platforms stay in their positions before they flip again. 2. To get the platforms to reset, change the Timer's Input Action to Forwards/Backwards. Wire the output of the Timer to the input of the Wobble Bolt. Change the Input Action on the Wobble Bolt to Forwards/Backwards as well. If the player stands on the trapdoor, the Timer will begin counting. When it reaches the end, the trapdoor will fall. Since the Input Action is set to Forwards/Backwards, the Timer will start counting back down when the player drops out of range of the Player Sensor. When the Timer is empty again, the trapdoor will return to its starting point. -OR- You could use two timers. Wire the Player Sensor output to the first Timer's input. Change the Input Action to Start Count Up and wire the output to the Wobble Bolt. Change the Wobble Bolt's Input Action to Forwards/Backwards. Create a second Timer. This Timer will let you specify exactly how long you want the trapdoor to remain open. Change the Input Action on this second Timer to Start Count Up. Wire the output of this Timer to its own reset and the reset of the first Timer. When the player stands on the trapdoor, the Timer will start counting up, regardless of whether or not the player remains there. When the Timer fills up, the trapdoor will drop and the second Timer will be activated. When the second Timer fills up, it will reset both Timers and it will bring the trapdoor back to its starting position. | 2011-02-06 10:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
