How to make a Guitar-Hero alike game.

If you want to make a guitar-hero game, or a game where you must press the buttons at the correct time to win, here is a complete tutorial. NOTES http://i8.lbp.me/img/ft/da821545a0c8ee37813bf7107cba85f50a428006.jpg First, make the shape of your game, if you want the "notes" to fall down or to go towards the center and blah blah... Next, you'll have to make a note. Make a small circle or square out of hologram. Put a MC (microchip) on it. Inside the MC, put a magnetic detector with the label "press", and a key of the same color with the label "note". Set the holo to the same color. Add an object destroyer, a score giver and a sound to the MC, then hook the detector to them. Copy the note and make the other notes with it by changer the key, detector and holo colors, and changing the sound. Be sure to set the detectors to detect only inside the hologram. Add a magnetic detector labled "delete". Hook it to a score changer that makes you lose points. You'll have to put keys labled "delete after the PRESS ZONE, so that unpressed notes get destroyed and make you lose points. All delete keys may be the same color. Make sure the detector again only works inside the hologram. PRESS ZONE http://if.lbp.me/img/ft/57f8f09aa88ac8920fafb8e79c5a8b8ae2d61abb.jpg Now the notes will move towards a zone on screen where you must press a button. For each note, create a zone of the same size and place a magnetic detector labled "note". Add a key labled "press". Put a counter set to maximum one, and hook its output to its reset input. Now hook the controlinator button that you have to press to the counter. When you press that button, it activates the counter that activates the key that will be detected by the note. Now we must be sure you lose points when you press a button if there is no note. Link the "note" detector to a not gate, and the and gate to a score changer. Hook the counter we put before to the and gate. You need as many of these PRESS ZONES as there are different notes and buttons to press (4 or 5 is enough). Set the detector and key colors correctly, one per zone. NOTE CREATION http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/14b007df1fa1c0fb619c57bad3008e0647d8612c.jpg You need to place emitters to emmit the notes. Now depending on the shape of your game, you have to put movers on the notes for them to move towards the game zone. Next, place emmiters and give the notes a good lifetime, they'll get deleted anyways even if you miss them. Set the input to one shot. Next, place a sequencer in your level. Change the speed as you wish. Now place the sequencer on a MC, and a second MC next to it. Put as many detectors as you have kinds of notes in this second MC. Give them the label "create" and each the color of the note it emits, because you have to link them to the emiters. Now all there is left to do is place keys, all labled "create", on the sequencer. Each color will emit a note. You can create a song that way. REMEMBER : two keys placed next to each other will only activate the detector once ! Make the sequencer long and fast to be able to make fast notes ! http://i9.lbp.me/img/ft/bd970c40e7bdbcfd8c2bad78362ad98a4bafbf7f.jpg ABOUT GUITAR HERO CONTROL A guitar hero works with these buttons from left to right : X, O, square, triangle, L1 You have to hit the notes with the up or down arrow AND the fret to play them. Noing this, it is easy to make a game GH compatible. Try mine to understand how this works, just search Born for Stress (http://lbp.me/v/xd4z0k). | 2011-02-06 00:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
Pictures would be nice to help the people that don't understand the text version of this. Great Idea though! | 2011-02-06 06:28:00 Author: Unknown User |

You keep on using the term magnetic detector. Do you mean a Tag Sensor? It' kind of hard to understand what you mean by "Magnetic Detector." Other than that, it's a pretty good tutorial. | 2011-02-07 00:03:00 Author: Unknown User |

Wow, that's funny, I'm literally in the final stages of making this same thing (well, the logic part of it, I'm working on it for a friend) and the setup you have is incredibly similar to mine. The big obstacle that I recently tackled with the help of a friend (thanks Propost!) was being able to fit both custom music and the music from the game into it...takes a bunch of mathy-stuff, but it's working! *crosses fingers* | 2011-02-07 05:07:00 Author: EvilWuun Posts: 152 |
To help you out a little, I have the entire guitar controls for the DCS written down from the beta. Green = X Red = O Yellow = Triangle Blue = Square Orange = L1 Strum Bar = D-Pad Up/Down Whammy Bar = Left Stick Left/Right Toggle = Left Stick Up/Down Overdrive/Guitar Tilt = R1 Hope I'm not restating what's already been said. | 2011-02-07 21:55:00 Author: maddoggnick96 Posts: 272 |
i had an idea for a while to make a guitar hero level compatible with the controller that was going to be awesome...but what do you know its been done You keep on using the term magnetic detector. Do you mean a Tag Sensor? It' kind of hard to understand what you mean by "Magnetic Detector." Other than that, it's a pretty good tutorial. because in lbp1 they were called magnet keys and magnet key detectors. Wich i think was a better name than tag. I miss those days | 2011-02-09 01:58:00 Author: Jboy1995 Posts: 48 |
I made a guitar hero-alike level, and im planning on making it compatible with the guitar and 4 player version, check it out, i appriciate feedback, and if anyone is interested on help on logic like this i can help, i made this within 4 hours or so http://lbp.me/v/xjq9g4 | 2011-02-09 03:11:00 Author: SackboyManuel Posts: 26 |
R1 for star power really ? Nice ! I already knew for the up-down/strum and the frets cause they are written on my guitat hero controller I could add pictures now that there is lbp.me (it is 10 times faster !) By the way, I call Tag sensors magnetic detectors because I play in french, and it is still called ? Detecteur de cle magnetique ? that could be translated to Magnetic Key Detector, the name they had in the first LBP. | 2011-03-12 02:09:00 Author: Unknown User |

nice tut guy it is reallt good work but i've got one problem i've i press square my popit show up and than I CANT PRESS THE BUTTON Disable Popit from the Controlinator itself; Just hover your popit cursor over the controlinator, and hit the tweak button (Square). There should be an option in there to prevent the player from using it in playmode. | 2011-08-30 18:21:00 Author: MonarioBabii Posts: 128 |
