Davinci's Lost Love
Archive: 7 posts
Victoria's gone missing, and Davinci's worried, perhaps you can help? Where is Victoria, and who, or what, could have taken her!? Inspired by Davinci's levels, I am working on a continuation of LBP2's story mode, this is the first level that occurs after "Into The Heart Of The Negativatron". Aesthetically and gameplay wise it is similar to Davinci's levels and I've tried my best to do that. I'd love to hear what you think, I am currently working on the next level in the series so all feedback is appreciated, both to improve this and make the next level better! http://i0.lbp.me/img/ft/2e04b75c9302e32e250adecbb7c17ef74ea702e9.jpg http://id.lbp.me/img/ft/65d619693ab35496c295ac003894f509a92b6fc3.jpg http://lbp.me/v/xfpvvx | 2011-02-05 22:25:00 Author: RAWTalent Posts: 224 |
This is my first level review on the forum, so it might be a little ropey. I'll keep it simple. Likes: * The level is nicely themed throughout. It is consistent in its design. * I really like how you can fall through the toilet paper tubes. Nice original touch. * It is fun. Criticisms: * The music speaker is visible at the start. It might be better invisible. This is just my personal preference. * There is an area at the start of the level, beneath the stack of books. If you fall into it to grab the score bubbles, there is no way out. Not sure if this is intentional or not. *At the part where there is an electrified rotating circle with two grapple pads above it, the exit point (to the right) is difficult to get to. Immediately following this area is another difficult area where you have to jump over an electrified triangle. I feel that there should be a spawn-point between both areas. * The level is somewhat short. It is good enough to deserve to be longer | 2011-02-06 00:03:00 Author: Wayward Posts: 120 |
Thanks alot, I have now addressed most of the issues you raised: * The music speaker is visible at the start. It might be better invisible. This is just my personal preference. Now Invisible * There is an area at the start of the level, beneath the stack of books. If you fall into it to grab the score bubbles, there is no way out. Not sure if this is intentional or not. Added bouncepad for easier escape *At the part where there is an electrified rotating circle with two grapple pads above it, the exit point (to the right) is difficult to get to. Immediately following this area is another difficult area where you have to jump over an electrified triangle. I feel that there should be a spawn-point between both areas. There is now a checkpoint between the two, and I have made the electrified triangle part a tad easier. | 2011-02-06 10:48:00 Author: RAWTalent Posts: 224 |
Seems better now. I've since found a problem though. At the end, when you pull the switch to free the NPC, the cage can fall on the player, killing them. The player respawns at the bottom of the shaft with no way of getting back to the top (the sponge elevator is gone). | 2011-02-06 13:21:00 Author: Wayward Posts: 120 |
That should no longer be a problem, cheers for testing it out for me | 2011-02-06 15:05:00 Author: RAWTalent Posts: 224 |
Thanks for the feedback on my level. Heres what i have to say about yours: Positive: -if i didnt know better this could be in story mode as far as looks - gameplay is fun, i never got bored Negative: - part where you jump over the electric pyramid thing is kind of hit or miss on if you make it or not( mabye i just suck ) - the plot is kind of boring to me, mabye you could show the enemy taking victoria or something Overall: - i enjoyed the level and gave you a | 2011-02-06 17:52:00 Author: Sonic5411 Posts: 712 |
Heey! So, played it just a few minutes ago. Well, there are a lot of Da Vinci Levels out there. A LOT! So, I thought "Well... whatever, its a level like all the others!" But.. "Hey, story sounds funny: Da Vinci searches for his 'upside-down pineapple cake!' " Yeah, whatever: The gameplay is nice. It's not something new. It's not spectacular. I can't say "Oh my god. Did I just play that?!" But: It was fun. There are some little new ideas inside. You could jump through some parts fluently, while some parts were too sticky and slow. It's like: "Aww man... we jumped a 1000 times through things like that! I want something challenging!" And also the level was a far too short. Work on that, too! Still gave it a 'Yay'. Like I said: It was fun! | 2011-02-07 15:39:00 Author: RedShadow_88 Posts: 100 |
