PSP/PS3 Community-Contest Mash-Up

Archive: 10 posts

PREFACE: I have got no problem with sharing this forum with portable gadders! While I do not own a PSP, I respect the owners of it and could even see myself trying out the 'new' portable set to arrive...this year? Anyway, I sometimes even click on 'their'; news, spotlights, etc.

PRESENT: I often peruse the 'community contest' forum in hopes to find ways of best swindling a crown! Today, inadvertently, I clicked on two or three threads in a row that were all PSP EXCLUSIVE.

I do not like this.:hrmf:

Improvement must be made-- and while I whole heartedly agree that the PSP is part of this community-- the more content 'a user' is expoused to that does not directly enhance/pertain to that 'user'-- the less satisfying the browsing experience will be.

We be in the buisness of satisfying-forum-browsing.

(Oh!) Also... this guy > (yeah him) he should be immediately replaced by the lbp2 sackbot with view screen hearts.

Thank You for your time and attention.

I completely agree but with a twist in how contests are run. Some of us will never see a crown on our sackboy/girl by getting it the traditional way ( creative contests ) so how about a crown lottery? It will still be exclusive and rare while still giving those who fall short in the mind blowing ingenuity department a chance to be part of the club.

I also agree the love emoticon should be updated to a sackbot.

See but it's the same for the PSPers except there are even more threads that don't belong to them. (Unless you're saying this for both.) Having both of the systems I actually prefer to see the separate contests (there still can be a few I just don't really see how they could be judged fairly). For browsing it's a lot easier to find what you're looking for too. Anyways I don't think that this would be a good idea for ALL contests but for a few it could be pretty cool.

how about a mark or logo that says PSP or PS3 next to the title of the contest? (like the LBP2 And LBP1 logo's in level showcase) + a logo that has PS3 + PSP just incase somebody wants to make a contest for both.2011-02-07 02:32:00

I might have been unclear. At the heart of my OP was simply this... While they are all Community Contests, PSP and PS3 contests SHOULD NOT be located in the same FORUM. A person using this forum who does not own a PSP is opened up to the possibility of being needlessly introduced to a load of information which does not pertain to them and thus has no value. No value is clutter. Delay. Noise. These things all detract from one's browsing pleasure. I'm sure the same goes for those looking for 'just' PSP contests.

You're absolutely right.
Even before we'd get the occasional PS3er wander into a PSP thread

True, but conversely, a person who has both LBP PS3 and LBP PSP would have to look in two different forums, which is more effort.

Part of the reason they were merged was to try to cut down the huge number of forums when we brought the PSP forums onto the main page. It's a pretty low-traffic forum anyway, so doesn't really need to be split for that reason.

It might suffice to just start a thread naming convention, and prefix threads with [PSP] or [PS3] or somesuch, but at the end of the day, it's up to the author of each post to make it clear which game they're referring to, and even if we did split them, it's still up to them to make sure they post it in the right one.
