Stiff pistons

Straight to the point: they don't work properly, since they can still tilt. Does anybody know WHY stiff pistons won't work as they did in LBP1? | 2011-02-05 05:58:00 Author: FreeAim Posts: 2462 |
Is the piston set to stiff? That might be the issue, Cuz i'm having no problems with pistons. | 2011-02-05 06:06:00 Author: Merc Posts: 2135 |
And now, stiff is even default setting! As far as I know, it's "stiff=no tilt". Maybe it's a question of strength? Is the piston set to high strength and no other strong rotating forces inluencing the attached objects? Are these of regular material or maybe holomatter? | 2011-02-05 08:39:00 Author: Xario Posts: 238 |
What do you mean? Do you have the option checked to "stiff?" It's the second option under the Piston Tweak menu. I've had no problems with pistons this go around. Do you mean it's tilting because you connected the piston to your object at a tilt? If you want it to go straight in-and-out motion, you have to make your piston completely straight...you can't really be messy while connecting them. lol I learned that pretty early on. Otherwise, I'm not too sure what your problem could be. | 2011-02-05 09:21:00 Author: ShelboTron Posts: 9 |
Yeah, I think they got worse. Wouldn't it be magical if they behaved like dark/light matter? | 2011-02-05 09:48:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
I think I am having the same problem. If I set the Piston to "Stiff" it isn't actually stiff | 2011-02-07 22:49:00 Author: Unknown User |
If the material the piston is connected to (not the thing being pushed) is the HOLOGRAM material it won't work. Although holo floats it doesn't provide a strong enough hold the piston. Use a relatively small DM/WM square to start and then slowly trim it from the opposite side to the piston 'till it goes invisible. | 2011-02-08 06:51:00 Author: mutant_red_peas Posts: 516 |
I was having this issue when I put a piston on a characters body that I made, it was cloth, when I put the head (cardboard) on the other end of the piston it would just fall over limp, but when I would test it on another more uniform piece of cloth and put a block of wood on it it worked fine. I dunno what the problem is, my only answer is the piston didn't have enough anchor room so it would just fall off the cloth. In the end I just scrapped the idea. | 2011-02-08 07:00:00 Author: Gutz Posts: 175 |
Straight to the point: they don't work properly, since they can still tilt. Does anybody know WHY stiff pistons won't work as they did in LBP1? Stiff pistons have never been stiff, in either game. See this thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26325-Frustrating-Pistons) for some tips. | 2011-02-08 08:17:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
