I have queued your level and will play and leave feedback later. It would be great if you could supply feedback for my level as well, the info is in my sig.2011-02-05 20:13:00

I noticed you are still waiting on some feedback for your level, so here goes. Keep in mind, these are just my opinions.

First, I hung around (pun intended) as long as I could, but when I finally died it was by choice (after achieving high score) not by level difficulty.

When I played your level it kind of reminds me of what I throw together when playing with concepts. It looks more like a brainstorm than a published level. You have a decent starting concept - now it is just a matter of making that work. You have asked for suggestions to "make it better" so I am specifically going to focus on what I would do next if that was my level and I was hammering out the challenge after developing the overall base level.

One thing is that the play area is very large. Given that you can control the blocks coming down (actually stopping their momentum and sending them the other direction), There is a ton of room for what is required. So I would attach the gas edges to a piston and set it to a very slow inward momentum. (300 seconds or so to start and then tweaking it until the game play feels right) This way, over time your play area becomes smaller and swings must be more precise.

The blocks could use some more momentum - especially as time progresses - so I would focus on that next. I'm not sure about the parts I can't see, but making an assumption I would take the left side of your ramp and attach the entire setup (emmiters and all) to a winch held above it. Once again, as with the gas, I would set this to a slow rise. This would increase the speed and momentum (thus difficulty) of the rollers as they come down.

Now depending on how all that worked out, I would really start getting creative. Perhaps adding new rollers beyond the base first sponge set. Giving the sponge a piston that is not stiff instead of just a string so that the sponge becomes a moving target and the swing pattern becomes more difficult. Alternatively (or additionally) you could attach the string to the edge of the roller instead of center which would give you a wobble effect as the roller goes down the ramp.

I might play with breakaway material on a timer ... when the sponge is held for so long it breaks away ... could be done with a warning light/sound or without. You could also set the breakaway to random.

Not sure how you feel about the rockets - with the other changes they may not be needed ... but if you wanted to keep them - here is what I would do - change them out! They always fire at the same spot and are predictable and easily avoidable. Get them traveling up and down or side to side .... add additional launchers to the mix ... maybe a flame thrower or plasma gun.

Finally, once I had everything mechanically functioning and working as intended, I would spend some time dressing it up. The circuit material, red gas, raw sponge and then background material did not match at all. Pick a theme ... forest, sci-fi, computer, Aztec ... and just go with it. Make everything look like it belongs together.

And I'll tell you this - after brainstorming how I would fix (err ... tweak) your level, it has me itching to do make it (but I have no intention of being a level thief) ... that said, if brainstorming gets me interested, I can only imagine that your finished product could be what you were hoping for and your level will become more enjoyable.

Good luck and well wishes - I look forward to seeing your level after modifications.

PS - please check out my F4F level in my sig. I would appreciate it. Thanks!
