Hi all !

Not sure if it's mandatory here to introduce yourself before starting to post in the other sections, but I thought I'd do so.
I'm Philippe, 25-nearly-26, and I live in Le Mans, France. I've been a big fan of LBP from the first episode, as I still remember the delay because of the lyrics in the Savannah song, and the existance of the Week 1 shirt for LBP1 which a lot of people don't even know exists and thought the Week 1 shirt from LBP2 was MM's first attempt at ripping people off. Well, I bought the LBP2 shirt

Anyway, I gave up playing LBP1 for two reasons :
- The glitch in the editor that stuck all your level parts together made my life impossible and I gave up creating levels.
- The shi*ty selection of user-made levels on the planet was ridiculous. It wasn't even fun to search for cool levels, and I gave up playing online.
So I gave up every aspect of the same.

Now, LBP2 is here and it's awesomely great, and levels are finally interesting to create. Microchips, gates and timers are the best !
I've starting creating a level which shall be familiar to people who played Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, featuring the kind of puzzle where you have to walk on tiles that spawn spikes after you've stepped on them, and you have to go through all of them to open some door. The basic gameplay on my level is done (I've published a sort of demo last week which has been played by 3 people yet, talk about beta testing ), now all I have to do it make it really interesting.

I'm really looking forward to participating on this forum, I have a lot to learn and maybe will be of some use in anyway !

Welcome to LBPC Philippe.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light? Yeah, awesome game right there, so it's interesting that you're using that as inspiration for hazards in your level. Hmm, now I'm thinking, "Why is there no Lara Croft costume?"

Sh*tty levels? Ohh my...

But, while it's true that a lot of levels are absolutely terrible, and seem like they were thrown together in twenty minutes. I find it hard to criticize anyone who puts the time into creating a level, cause you don't know how exactly how much effort they put into it, maybe they're young? Maybe they don't know much about creating levels? You know, it's like, there's lot of reasons why a level might not be all that great, but it's hard to tell if it's down to just pure laziness on the creators part because we don't know the context in which the level was created. Lol, yeah, had to get that out there. I'd just feel bad about frowning on peoples levels, no matter how bad I might think they are.

Anyways, have fun, there's lots to see and do, or do and see depending on which you prefer!

Well... he did say "good creator" and not "mind blowingly awesome creator", so it's not too bad.

Sh*tty levels? Ohh my...

Actually, my sentence :

The shi*ty selection of user-made levels on the planet was ridiculous.

was meant to be read : the *****ty selection METHOD, aka the planet that always gave you the same results no matter what your search was. I have no opinion about levels, since I couldn't play enough of them because of that planet which made it impossible to overview levels in a confortable way. They ended up patching it to make it into a list but still, this wasn't enough. I remember the list being quite bad too, but that's a long time ago.
It's the same as when you want to browse through the ingame store : you can only use that *****y planet system, when a list would be muuuuuch easier to use.

Edit : btw, here's the link to my demo level : http://lbp.me/v/w1bef7 . Please try it and leave some kind of opinion- -I don't even know if people may find it worth turning it into a real level, since I get no plays thus no comments.

Ahh yeah, gotcha, you meant the selection system? Well, there's a lot of debate about that going on, but so far no ones come up with any definitive solution. :o

And I know what you mean about the store, I usually just buy from the PSN store, there's a section just for LBP, and stuff is easier to find.

I'll queue your level and comment, though I don't know a whole lot about level design so I'm not sure how much help I can be. I think there's a review for review thread on this forum somewhere, maybe you should try posting your level there, ask for reviews and in return, you review the levels of whoever reviews your level. Review for review.

I usually hang around the track, all the nice cars are usually there. Haven't been inside since I was a child though, I don't really like the race itself. However, I'm a big fan of cars so the main interest to me is all these Brits coming down to show off their rare cars 2011-02-06 11:48:00
