I was playing around with the animated glass, changing it to and from gas, plasma, electricity and fire and when I changed it back the glass was completely black.(I was also using the UV tool)

Whoa, do you still have that level open? Try taking a picture of it and see what it comes out looking like...and so we can see it. This could potentially be huge...

I've realised that this is not actually a glitch, but a clever manipulation of the game (a bit like the escudo "glitch" in most Gran Turismos). While playing around with it when it was gas, I turned the brightness of the glass down not realising it would stay like that when I turned it back. All you have to do is turn the brightness down on the glass.
