Top down racer car, brake/slowingdown help
Archive: 6 posts
Hi there. I made a little top down racer car It goes forward with X and backwards with O, its all working fine But when i release the X button the car immediately stops., this is quite unrealistic. So is there a way to set it up so, that when ever i release the brake or / gas button (O/X) the car continues driving for a bit and slowsdown, like a real car would do if you get your foot of the gas. thanks | 2011-02-03 15:40:00 Author: Dexist Posts: 570 |
Check your deceleration on your movers. If they are set to 100%, then you will immediately stop. You can set them to 0% and when you release the button you will continue to move at whatever speed you were moving when you released the button. | 2011-02-03 16:02:00 Author: Shanghaidilly Posts: 153 |
If i set deceleration to 0% it still stops immediately after i release the button. so that doesnt help. Maybe someone other knows? | 2011-02-03 21:01:00 Author: Dexist Posts: 570 |
is there anything else on it that has deceleration? like an anti gravity tweaker? are they set to 100%? | 2011-02-03 21:42:00 Author: slidedrum Posts: 189 |
Are your movers set to strength scale? Are there any other movers on the car that might be causing the problem? If your movers are set to strength scale, they shouldn't add any drag to the car when they're off, but if they're set to on/off or speed, then they'll actually try to stop the car when they're off. I had a similar problem and my solution was... unorthodox, and probably not exactly what you're looking for. I added a speedometer by emitting little squares of holo with tags on them and sticking a sensor in the back of the car. As long as it detects the tags, it will keep pushing the car forward slightly, the idea being that as it slows down, the tags won't be getting as close to the sensor and it will scale back on the mover's strength gradually. Of course, the fact doesn't quite fit the theory and my cars tend to keep going forever until they run into something, but I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to fix that by lowering the strength or speed of the mover, or reducing the radius on the tag sensor. | 2011-02-03 21:53:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
Try adding a gravity tweaker and turn down the dampening. | 2011-02-04 14:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
