"Invaders Must Die" by the Prodigy.

Archive: 8 posts

Good day, fellow LBP'ers! Just joined LBPC, although I have known about it ever since I started playing the first game.
I didn't bother to sign up and I regret it now. It was hard to find anything good through all the levels, but LBPC made this all easier. You would see countless of bad H4H levels which had gained a lot of exposure, yet when something cool and original came along, it would probably only recieve 3 stars, hardly any plays and no feedback. But I finally figured that this was the place to come, so all introductions aside, let me show you my first level for LBP2.

It is my first ever music level. I never bothered with the old ways as it was too tideous. But now with the music sequencer, this has become much easier.
The song is "Invaders Must Die" by the Prodigy. I tried hard to make it sound like it, but since the variety of instruments are still scarce, some sounds did not come out as I wanted.
Since I just wanted to try out some of the new tools, like the controllinator, I thought I would spice up the level with more than just the song itself. I made a little controllable UFO to fly around in. Yes, there is definitely bugs in the level, such as if you die by jumping out of the UFO, you will respawn but not with a new UFO. The reason for this was because you could not win the level, while still inside the controllinator. I still have no idea how to auto eject the player, after reaching a certain point. So whatever you do, don't leave the UFO until you are at the end, as a level restart is required to set things right again.

The giant ant is basically just the Prodigy's logo.

I hope you enjoy the song but most of all, would leave some feedback. I could really use some help on how to auto eject the player.

Wow, very good level although there is another level with the same song done differently and a little bit catchier.
Still very good, you might wanna try maybe making it faster and eliminating some of the down time between notes.

Needs a bit more work, but a good start. Might be worth trying out some different instruments. If you just drop them over the top of the existing ones, it still keeps the notes.
Also, I think you know the level isn't much of a level. Take out the shooting and the ship and just make a nice looking prodigy logo. Maybe have some dancing sackbots?

Wow! I thought for sure this thread would've died out! Thanks for the response, everyone! I did not know about the drop trick, but thanks!

When I first uploaded it, I had searched for the level beforehand, but nothing came up. Which is exactly why I wanted to make it. No point in making a level, if you can't up the quality of it. I suppose I could change it for just the logo. I guess since this was my first level for LBP2, I wanted to play around with the controllinator and such.
And yes, other instruments would be better. But I had a really hard time picking the current out! LBP2 definitely needs an Instrument DLC pack.

I have no idea what you meant with the downtime between the notes, but I would definitely like to know how to fix it. Since you can only put notes at fixed locations, it is a tough job to be entirely free as to where you would like the notes to drop, but I very much appreciate if you could tell me how.
