Just looking for a few reviews on my level. I just played through your level and figured I would leave you some feedback. Everything that i say is meant to be constructive. First the Pro's: I liked the varying environments (water/cave, grass, mountain) The bonus area was a nice, cute, and fun touch The two logic puzzles were nice to see/play Slime Boss looked great The length/pace was good Then the Con's: Utilization of three planes throughout majority of level left it feeling flat and empty The environment was generally flat and square Falling from the area after boss loops you back to the earlier in the level (it was actually confusing for me because of the comments from the kids about still being scared and needing help - I actually tried throwing them of the ledge for awhile with the bounce pad and grappling hook) Slime Boss was no real danger Crane utilizing controllinator was neat - but seemed out of place with rest of level theme Could use a level a makeover (explained below) So here's what I mean by could use a level makeover. I used to make levels utilzing all three planes a lot. My levels had a tendency to look boxy. Over time I learned to use the corner edit tool and mix things up on three layers, but it really wasn't that dynamic. I learned a lot from various advice and comments, but never quite got to the level of "uber impressive" that you see in levels that look like they came from MM themselves. I came across a great set of video tutorials that finally made things click for me. I am linking to one below which I think may be very relevant to you as it shows the process of revamping a level. I think your level has potential, but to really get the folks attracted to it, this may help you take it up a notch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANJ5Ti4WaSM Like I said, watching and learning - it certainly helped me to understand better what people were commenting on. Actually the cave and temples tutorials might not be bad for you to watch either - not saying you need them, but the tips and tricks really helped me to take the levels I'm working on to a whole 'nother place. (hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll have something worth publishing). I think you have solid gameplay - now it's just bringing the player in with variation and dynamic feel to the three planes, some stickers, and some details ... If you go for a version 2.0, the other thing I would adjust would be the boss. Like I said - it looked great, but the two plasma tentacles were never really a threat for me. I think he could really go with some killer emissions - which would work well given the slime splatters everywhere. Also - if he were to emit some danger above him it would prevent getting on top safely and just smashing the brains. One other suggestion, if you go for a revamp, would be to add some danger to the bouncepad bonus area. Instead of only emitting bounce pads emmit some danger ... maybe a turle with a deadly spiked tail ... this way it becomes more of a bounce and dodge game. Anyway good luck - hope some of this feedback may help with this and future levels. -Jaydetiger | 2011-02-03 23:24:00 Author: Jaydetiger Posts: 64 |
Thanks JaydeTiger this is exactly what I was looking for. After I finished the level I went back to add stickers and decorations but it overheated. So I had no choice but to publish it the way it was. I wanted to make it a bit longer but couldn't. I will definitely check out the videos before I start on a new level. Thanks again | 2011-02-05 05:14:00 Author: blazin Posts: 30 |
Hey there! I really liked your level. It looked unique and nice. What I didn't like that much was the gameplay. I mean the "sort the green, red and blue sponges to the same-coloured places" stuff. And also the part with the Grabinators where you had to sort these sponges. This part was also a bit annoying because there wasn't that much space. But I liked the idea at the waterfall with the bouncepads. Though I didn't find it that satisfying to collect those bubbles. The story was funny. I don't know if you want it to be a serious and dangerous story. But I found it funny. Overall it'll get a 'Yay' from me. Would be glad if you could check my animation: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=47086-Animation-When-Stars-Are-Dancing&p=757658 | 2011-02-05 10:53:00 Author: RedShadow_88 Posts: 100 |

Awesome, I've added this level to my queue and I'll play it and review it tonight ^^ In return, could you please try and review my level, Bounce Pad Level 1. http://lbp.me/v/xk-j9v It's much appreciated ^^ | 2011-02-09 15:09:00 Author: Unknown User |
thanks, left feedback on lbp. You should make a thread for it | 2011-02-11 21:26:00 Author: blazin Posts: 30 |
I have this level queued now, and will play it and review it tonight. Unfortunately, I'm unable to access a computer that often, so I am only able to post reviews of your level on the Little Big Planet 2 game. Having said this, I will post a good review with honest opinions and suggestions. Hope you don't mind, apologies for any inconvenience. In return, could you please play and review my level in my signature. When you review it, I don't mind if you post a review on this website or the game, but if you don't mind, I'd prefer the review to be in game, but either works. Thanks, apologies once again for any inconvenience! Much appreciated. | 2011-02-11 21:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
