Import my LBP2 save to a flash drive, will it work if I import it back to this same account and PS3? Or will it give me the "this profile is imported" error message?

I actually don't think this is possible but if you can get it on the flash drive it shouldn't be hard to trade it over. Hope I was some help

By "import to flash drive" I'm assuming you mean backing your profile data up to the HDD (via the in-game menu) and then taking it from your saved data file on the XMB and copying it to a portable USB drive, yes? In short, you should be fine. It's only if the profile is copied, do you get that message. For example if you give your profile to a friend, they won't be able to log into their PSN account and import your profile and use it. I have two PS3's in my house, one is mine and the other is shared between the rest of my family. I'll take my LBP save (backed up to a USB drive) and import it onto the shared PS3 (on my account, logged in to PSN) and play with my family. Then all I have to do is back it up once again, save it to the USB drive, and copy it back onto my PS3. Though I wouldn't recommend importing it again unless you made changes to it (really because there's no need to). Hope that helped.
