re-spawning objects when you die

Hello all, first thread here and also fairly new to level building so please bear with me. I'm making an old school space shooter with objects you must avoid, I've got that part sorted but what I need is for the craft to re-spawn if you die. Currently I've got it attached to an emitter and a button to press for a new craft. The problem is it won't create a new craft during the lifetime of the previous craft (I have it set to 60 seconds before it self destructs) Is there another way to do this? Ideally I'd like the craft to re-spawn when the player does, or for the emitter to reset back to zero when the player dies so it doesn't play out the remaining time left on the previous object. you can set the lifetime of the emitter to infinite, the frequency to 0.0 and replace old object to false and it will re spawn when destroyed. | 2011-02-03 00:07:00 Author: slidedrum Posts: 189 |
Thanks for your help. I've set it up as you said and it keeps creating a level start point each time it spawns my object. It'll only respawn a new object (in create mode) if I delete the newly created level start point. I adapted one of the LBP characters (the collector) for the object I'm spawning, I just tried a random object and that doesn't create a level start point each time. Is there some way of stopping this level start point spawning with modded 'the collector' object? I'll have to build something else as my craft in the meantime. Never mind, I'm an idiot! When I captured the object, I also captured the start point. I hadn't noticed because it was 2 layers back and I had a large solid block in the mid layer hiding it. Doh! | 2011-02-03 22:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
