The Original Avalonia (Preview)

Archive: 14 posts

Try and check out my awsome new preview for a level I'm working on if you get the time. It is pretty short, due to the fact that it is a preview, but, It still took hours to make, so dont rate down due to length
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back when Mm were still planning LBP2, and when they brought the announcement trailer out, Avalonia was very different... I'm sure you guys remember the very first looks at it.. Flying insects made from a mic and razor, an ostrich..
Well, Im trying my best to bring that into the new LBP2, so we can see what it wouldv'e been like!
I'm trying my best to copy it, every little detail. I have even Re created the flying razor mic things!
Although it is best with one player, it is still worth playing.

Check out the LBP.me page, and leave any questions as a response

Interesting. Visually I loved the old dragonflies, and did not like the final versions. If not too much to ask could you recreate the section where we had to shoot the pixel Sacks ?? Really wanted to play this part XD!!!!!! I had wanted to make a dragonflies level. But good to know you're already working on it. Good luck2011-02-05 18:26:00

I'll check it out.

Have a look at "An Extra Challenge", which is also in the style of the story levels.

In return, could you please try and review my level, Bounce Pad Level 1.

That is my aim. I've found a gameplay video on Youtube with this full level. Im currently trying to recreate it, it may take a while, but it will be worth it. Im also going to make the part with the huge tv cat lady thing :/

Plus since I released this level, I have improved the dragonfly, it now has fluttering wings. Look out for this level coming maybe this month or next, maybe even the month after that. Depends how long it takes. I might also re make other original worlds. But Avalonia is the one we have most info about. Please tell me anyone if you find some more old gameplay

This looks fun. I will play it soon and give the level a review. In return, can you play the level in my signature?2011-02-13 15:56:00

There is still an ostrich in LBP2!

Or more rather, a turkey.

No, more rather again. A Copernicus.

Still, Ima queue. I wanted Avalonia to be like that and it would've been the highlight of LBP2 for me, but I was disappointed not to see it in the full game.

I wanted to do the Space-Sack Invaders too....

I played it, and you did pretty good job! My one problem is that it's not clean. There are quite a few spots where the floor isn't even, and it kind of takes away from the sterile clean and smooth atmosphere that Avalonia had.2011-02-13 21:03:00

It all looked fairly nice, I'm just gonna leave a few comments about various things.

When you open the door with the sackbot that dinging sound plays forever, which is kinda odd, perhaps use a timer to turn it off after a second or too. And the cutscene introducing the dragon fly is a little long, and if you walk away and back it will play again forcing you to re watch it.

The dragon fly looks pretty good, though once you get it to flap it's wings when ever you move, it will look much better. But the gyroscope just feels a little odd on the dragon fly, it should have a little sway to the motion, and the deceleration is terrible, I dunno if you meant for it to be like that or not, but I personally don't think it should be. If you don't know how to fix this, then all you have to do is tweak your antigravity settings so that dampening is around 70 or 80 percent, that way so when you stop moving you actually stop, instead of floating off in what ever direction you were moving in.

Would you play one (or both? ) of the levels in my signature?
Bird Hunting is MUCH farther along in development and so is a lot more fun, but my other one has no feed back yet because it's brand new. It's kinda like your level ehre, it's just a demo of concept really.

Please and thanks!

This level was a really cool idea. You replicated Avalonia very well, and the dragonfly thing was really cool. I found that the cutscene for the dragonfly was a little too long. You should probably shorten it by a second or two. The Sackbot was fun to play as, and I enjoyed the little puzzle. I hope that you continue to make more of this replication, it's really cool.2011-02-13 22:52:00

Ok. I'll fix these. I only spent about a day on the preview so it has a few faults. It will be fixed soon though

Looking good so far. Fix what the other guys/gals said and it will be better.
Make that dragonfly move like in the original, or I will beat you to it. It's on my to do list!

You should give the machines/etc away as prizes in the final.
Look foward to it.
