Censoring of the word "analog"

Archive: 18 posts

I have created two tech demo's of little projects I've been working on. Both levels I've published have had a word censored. The first is kind of understandable "Cockpit" for obvious reasons but why "Analog"? I would think that this is a very improtant word considering the capabilities of the new tools.

Anyways I just wanted to let people know that I have made an analog to 7-segment display that works quite well at visualizing the analog signals generated by the controlinator. I called it "Analog signal display" but the word analog was censored?!? if you search for signal display you can find it. By Darnoc420

I still have to tweek the negative setting. I didnt notice it was triggering digitally till just before bed last night. I will fix it after work and give it as a prize at the end of the level.

Hope you find it usefull!

I remember PSO's world filter blocked the word "Bathrobe" because it contained the word "throb" (which isn't even a swear?!)2011-02-03 12:33:00

Computer and happened

they're rude in other languages or something ridiculous, but they're not the oddest censors

Computer and happened

Yep, computer is the rude word for a "woman who sells her body" in french
and happened is the male organ in italian...

I think this system is stupid, if those letter succesions are not between spacings, but part of another word,
they shouldn't be considered as real "words" and be censored... I don't know why it's done this way...

And really, all this censoring is fruitless to people who really want to add profanities in their levels. Why?

P3N1$.

That is all.

In my logic levels, I spell it "anaIog", which is ana(capital i)og. Though playing back through them, it look like I missed one instance.2011-02-03 20:31:00

Censoring possible words within word is really ridiculous. I would sure hope Media Molecule would remove this draconian and completely exagerrated censorship. Detect only words, that's enough. Right now this is insulting. You can't use basic words like "happened" or familiar terms that would never get confused in a child's brain like "computer". It's really like they are taking us for retarded people. Like I said, this is insulting and especially for my children (if I had some yet).
It's also insulting on multiple levels anyways. "Penis" is a word like every other words and when it's got to be used properly, it's got to be used properly. If I'd make an educational level about anatomy I should have the right to teach the stuff properly, using the vocabulary as it should. Seriously, do you think my children will not know what are all those words? Seriously.
Lastly, certain things they censor also reflect an archaic, puritain and religious way of seeing things that should be something of the past: That sex and sexuality is bad or that sex should only be for making children. Or maybe it's cool be in a world with a 2000 years old + moral standards, Idunno.

Sorry, I had to vent.

While it's a stretch...
"Bonjour! TU EST dans UN comPUTEr?" (Probably horrible French, but you get the point.)

That's probably why, though it IS very restrictive.

Mm already knows about this and they really can't do anything about it. It's the PS3 blocking out the word http://getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet/topics/the_word_analog_seems_to_be_censored_in_reviews_sh own_on_lbp_me2011-02-03 23:28:00

It's not the PS3, where did he said that? it's not the firware of the PS3 that decides what you write on LBP.me
It's extremely simple, it's Media Molecule that designed they own censoring engine / software or at least made the rules for it. That is all.

Over on the psp side, AceCreator... who actually works for Sony Cambridge had a level banned for the title.

It was a pinball level called Super Sack Ball.
