A.I. Basketball - Play vs computer opponents!

I know you're thinking, "not another basketball level" but I hope this brings something different to the party with AI Sackbots to play against!

There's a vid on youtube which shows a playthrough of the CPU vs CPU mode. Sit back and watch the computer controlled sackbots battle it out.

Spent quite a bit of time working out the best way of controlling the sackbot behaviour. I think the result is suprisingly natural and I'd love to hear what other people make of it. I can go into more detail on how I created the AI if anyone is interested!

So here's my review:

It's a good thing with the options for playing against a friend or a CPU.
So, started the match against the Sackbot!

The Sackbot worked well, though he always made a point when he had got the ball.
I would suggest making the ball mor bounce away from the board thing at the basketball hoop, that you have to time your throw better. As it is now, you cann throw it as hard as you want against the thing, you will always make the point. And well.. if you make it more bouncie, the sackbot won't hit the hoop everytime and the match gets more interesting!

But still it is well made and was good fun!

RedShadow_88 - Yeh, I had the backboard stiff to start with, but it meant that you couldn't get right up close and shoot, which everyone really wants to do!

Not sure how I can improve the AI, at the moment it follows a few simple rules.

1. Default state is looking for and moving toward the ball
2. When close to the ball, activate grab and switch to looking for yellow tag.
3. The yellow tags are above the two bounce pads which are likely places to score from.
4. When the sackbot detects a yellow tag in range and in front, let go of the grab and throw the ball, then switch back to behaviour 1!

If the ball goes in the net, the sackbot returns to base and either a celebration or angry animation is played out. Although the angry animation does unfortunately look like he is celebrating as well!
