Creating the "Bood Cell" or kicker vehicle help
Archive: 5 posts
Hi everyone. Great site and I'm well happy I've found it. I need some help please...whether it's a descriptive piece or redirect to a tutorial, any would be great. So, I've searched the help topics and tutorials and can't seem to findthe help I need. I'm trying to create a very basic football (soccer) game that is an overhead perspective against the back wall. Everythings in place except a vehicle for sackboy to drive that represents the football player. The ideal vehicle I need is the same as the one you drive when on the level where you are a White blood cell in the body. It's ideal because it moves freely around the screen and can shoot or "kick" the ball. Please, if anyone, can advise me on this in some simple steps I would be eternally grateful Thanks in advance | 2011-02-02 11:03:00 Author: Fatboyslick Posts: 15 |
There is an excellent tutorial in the Tutorial forum (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?127-LBP2-Tutorials) that explains the basics of setting up a top-down controllable racing car (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=47191-Top-down-Racer-Tutorial). You should be able to learn enough from it to make it a football type of game. | 2011-02-02 11:15:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
Brilliant thanks Antikris I did bookmark that one so I'll give it a go. I will probably need some help in making my vehicle "grab" and then "kick" (ie like the grabinator would) so are there any relevant tutorials for that too? Thank you again | 2011-02-02 11:49:00 Author: Fatboyslick Posts: 15 |
I will probably need some help in making my vehicle "grab" and then "kick" (ie like the grabinator would) so are there any relevant tutorials for that too Not any that I know of. I am happy that you put 'grab' and 'kick' in parenthesis, because you will probably not be able to do it the Sackbot/Sackboy kind of way, in which he literally grabs a grabbable material. Changing the ball's or car's stickiness on tag proximity is one approach but I can foresee some hilarious downsides with that method. Inspirational intermezzo; you just inspired me to make a Katamari Damaci game! Another one would be for the ball to follow the player (tag, very close radius) that caused its impact switch to go off. Not ideal either... Keep experimenting, keep an eye on the forums. Perhaps someone comes up with something in this thread. | 2011-02-02 12:05:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
Also, this excellent bumper car tutorial (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=47028-How-to-make-semi-advanced-top-down-bumper-car-logic). | 2011-02-02 12:25:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
