Score giving conundrum!

Archive: 3 posts

Hey all

I don't think this is really all that huge of a problem to figure out, but I haven't done much with the score givers to know which player it'll give it to and etc.

I'm making a versus level currently that consists of 2-4 players in little ships in an arena blowing each other up for points.
Now besides people being killed by other players, I have some Flamethrowers setup in the stage that pop-up every once in a while. What I'm trying to get is for it to subtract points from a player if they are killed by the flamethrowers, but I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to distinguish when the player was killed by fire, or plasma while using the same projectile sensor that is visible to the player and is set to detect all projectiles. I'm probably just to tired to think of a solution right now, and I'm not sure if I explained my problem well enough for anyone to get it Haha. Leave a post if you think you can help

Use two separate impact sensors on the player; one triggered by fire and one by plasma. Connect different logic and points to each sensor.2011-02-02 07:42:00

From experience, I've learned that if a player dies from something and it can't determine a player from which the attack originated, it will, by default, subtract 10 points from the victim. In other words, if you don't need the player to lose more than 10 points from a hazard death, then you don't need logic at all.

If you DO want it to take more than 10 points away, then do what Antikris said. As long as players don't shoot fire as well, it's as simple as hooking up a separate projectile sensor that only detects fire to a score giver set to the amount you want to take away.
