Walking on ceilings

Archive: 11 posts

Is it possible to have sackboy walk on the ceiling (or seem as though the level has flipped)? Sort of like in the first higginbottom level where you got in that dcs and were able to ride on the ceiling or the ground. If possible how is it done, preferably without sackbots or controllinators.2011-02-02 06:59:00

As a short answer, no.

Gravity atho possible to lower, is still based on the ground, so you cannot reverse it.

Your best bet is either sackbots, or illusions, where you turn the camera upside down, or something of the sort.

I don't think it's possible without sackbots or controllinators. You could do it with both though, preferably with an upside-down gyroscope attached to the sackbot as well as a mover that pushes it upwards. To jump you could use a short pulse that would fire a downwards mover for a split second.2011-02-02 07:07:00

There was a similar question in the LPB2 Help forums about a week ago with also some helpful replies. You may wanna look around and see if you can find it.2011-02-02 08:45:00

You don't by chance know who started it or what it was called? I'll look around though. Thanks for the info.2011-02-03 07:27:00

he may be referring to the question i asked

https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46151-I-need-help-making-a-device-that...&p=750883#post750883

with that design, you cant jump while on the cieling, but like another user just posted you may be able to make a short thrust that will mimic a jump.

if the design is confusing or something, let me know il give you a copy of it.

Personally, I would just flip the level and the camera so that it seems like the player is falling up, but in reality, they're still falling down and the ceiling is below them. That way there are no control issues and you can still jump and stuff.2011-02-04 22:25:00

It's definitely possible, but as someone already said, only with Sackbots. I have built my own vehicle similar to the one in that Higginbotham level you mentioned, so I have the chipsets/logic all ready to go and am certainly willing to share (the Controlinator/logic alone or the vehicle with Controlinator/logic included, though the vehicle itself is nothing too special). Add me on PSN and I'll throw together a custom level with the chipset as a prize for anyone that wants it (won't be able to publish it till tomorrow morning though).

Sehven pointed out that the controls may not be the same, and since I can't say either way as I haven't used this with a Sackbot before, that is something you might want to keep in mind and be sure to test out if you do want to try my setup.

EDIT - I see gr00ve88 posted a link to something similar, but from what I can tell, the difference between that setup and mine is mine will actually flip you upside down. It looks like in his/her case, it will only change gravity to make the vehicle/bot rise to the ceiling, but it will still be oriented as it would under normal conditions. EDIT - Never mind, it definitely does include the necessary gyros.

Thanks for all the help guys. I haven't been able to play very much lately but I should be able to play again today or tomorrow, and try out all of this craziness. I have tried flipping the camera, being the most simple option, but it didn't work like I wanted it to. Also is it possible to invert the controls so that while upside down left and right are actually left and right? I'll probably have alot more questions soon.2011-02-06 06:37:00
