Finally Aced The Cosmos...(And Tons of Advice)

Archive: 14 posts

And boy, was I happy to finally stomp on that last button with the Bunny of Doom...

Overall, it didn't take me too long to ace all of The Cosmos levels. I just tried to stay as calm as possible and never overplay a level. On a couple of these levels I would play them in three times in a row, and if I didn't ace it, I would move on and do something else. Then I would come back and try to ace it again, up to three times in a row again, if necessary. Here are some of my thoughts and advice on each level:

Negativitron Incoming...

I Lolzed...just play it, you'll do fine! (It's a cutscene FYI)

Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Negativitron

It took me two tries (not counting the initial quick Story-playthrough) to ace this one. The hardest part is a little after the ship is crushed and becomes low-gravity. There are a couple of jumps and swings that you need to time perfectly to not get zapped. Just keep your cool, and if you die once, try it again until you make it. I might even advise you hit the Try-Again button in your Pop-It to repeat a few of the harder ones again (that is, if you've already died before. Don't pop yourself if you have a chance of acing it!), just for practice.

Full Metal Rabbit

Ah yes, the annoying little bunny rabbit that can't seem to hop the way you want it too...A fairly difficult two-parter that took me about ten tries to beat (more than any other level so far). The first part is easy to get the hang of when you time the enemies' bomb throws. The enemy in the stacked tower who throws three consecutive bombs follows a pattern. He'll throw one near the checkpoint, one in the middle, and one nearer to himself. Just hide in the little crevice to the left of the his tower stack and catch the one that is thrown the shortest. Then quickly throw it at him and hide back in the crevice until the short bomb is thrown again. Repeat until meanie is dead On the part bounce pads with the flamethrowers, I usually move the Left Analog stick over to the left a bit at the highest point of my bounce to avoid the flamethrower guys. I keep doing that until I can time it right (by usually bouncing to the right when the flamethrower stream is finished) and stomp their little forts and squish them!

The second part is probably the part where the most annoyances come from. I would advise you to always hop up right after they shoot their lasers, and quickly hit R1 to smash 'em to pieces. It's also important to remember that R1 can also help your bunny stop floating in the middle of a jump, to avoid getting blasted by a beam that's getting ready to fire. The most trouble I had with this level was with the two timed beaming-eyes right before the two that are in the tower who only shoot their beams when they detect you. You can actually rest on a little platform to the left of the two timed-beaming-eyes and jump up and smash when they finish shooting. It's a pretty dumb mistake I've made several times and the level was a breeze once I figured this out. The two detection-beaming-eyes in the tower are just all about timing. First, wait on the edge of the platform where they can't reach you. Right after they fire, hop on the slanted portion of the platform, wait half a second before they fire, and smash them when they're in the middle of firing! After that, just take care of the three numbskull meanies and smash that button to free your friends! This level really isn't that hard once you get the hang of it!

Some Advice from Other Members:

On full metal rabbit, you don't have to hit enemies from the top. If you do small hops up to their side and hold r1 and rub up against them, that can kill a lot of them without opening yourself up to attack.

Be wary of unexploded bubblewrap shards! They can mess you up... and sometimes if you're attempting to catch an explosive and you got 'R1' pushed... if the bomb gets to low your velocity off the bouncepad is gonna explode that bomb... also the guard post roofs that collapse, alway aim to land toward the center-- upon crushing down, momentum can toss you off either side.

Where In The World is Avalon Centrifuge?

I don't know what to tell ya...Aced this on about the fifth try Another difficult two-parter that really involves some crucial timing and head-stomping. The first portion just takes practice, and it would be foolish to try and figure out a perfect way to handle every enemy. Sometimes the Avalon Fanboy Sackbots just don't do their job and you have every right to slap them or pull all of them into their fiery death

However, on the second part, I can give a couple of tips. The elevator and the robot. The first few parts of the elevator potion are simple. Stomp on the enemies' creature brains and reel your Grapple Hook up as short as you can and hope the little, annoying Avalon Fanboy Sackbots do their jobs and beam the thing. When it gets to the enemies who follow your swings, always start in the far left or far right of the elevator. The enemy will lock on to your position and get ready to fire. When he's about to fire, start swinging to the opposite side of the elevator and let go of the Grapple Hook to stomp on one of the enemy's two brains. Do the same for when there are two lock-on enemies instead of one. Just make sure to stay at one extreme side of the elevator until they fire and let go and smash one of their brains right before they fire. Also remember to reel up and let the Avalon Fanboys beam them (hopefully).

Now, the robot of death...Time his early stomps carefully and climb up his body (like you're supposed to do). When the story mode characters bring their bees in and help you swing, just remember these guys are your lifelines! Every time you're about to fall from the robot, hold R1 for dear life and hope you snag a bee. For me, it worked 100% of the time. For you, it should work unless you've swung to who knows where. When you get into the robot's body, grab the spinning circle and hold on to it until you're turning towards the exit, and let go. After letting go, quickly press R1 again to snag the sponge that will get you to the robot's shoulder. Holding on for too long in the robot's body will either squish you or plasmify you, so always let go, even if you don't want to When you get near the robot's head, make a huge leap when the machine's jaw is up (it shouldn't be too hard to time correctly), and bounce into his head to bring the tonka toy down! Afterwards, do a dance and collect your X-ray material because you just beat "Where In The World Is Avalon Centrifuge?"

Some Advice from Other Members:

Remember to extend the bridge so the sackbots can do their jobs in the begining section... there's always that one section that I forget about the button which extends the bridge (where after you de-brain meanies--they float after you till the sackbots positron em)... and the bridge at the start of part 2-- just develope a plan and stick to it. I take out the center goon first so I'm able to swing freely!

Fight Of The Bumblebees

This level really isn't difficult at all once you've played it two or three times. When there are a lot of enemies shooting you at a time, just pay attention to their projectiles and move up and down, avoiding them while repeatedly tapping X to shoot them down. Your health resets back to full one you finish the first short portion of the level, so don't worry if you've taken a lot of damage early on...On the second portion, it's easier to past the large collapsing rectangles from the bottom or top and the small collapsing rectangles from the middle. This portion involves more shooting and dodging (while tapping X as fast as you can to shoot 'em down, or just ignore them if they're not causing too many problems) until you get to the boss. Tap X as fast as you can while dodging the shapes as quickly as you can. Before long, this little boss should go down. If you're pretty good at tapping a button fast and dodging things, you probably won't get hit once with any projectile this whole level.

Some Advice from Other Members:

It is important to just learn where your enemies are coming from and get them off the board as quick as possible to keep airspace clear. For the boss@ the end I hold my fire till he shows himself... and then its': Up, midd, bottom, midd, top, midd, bottom over and over again all while firing X.

Into The Heart Of The Negativitron

The number one rule I want to stress here is be passive, not aggressive! Most of my advice would just be a reiteration of a Sackinima video I've seen HERE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN1xsNWbXn0). Just absorb the knowledge of the great moleynator, follow his strategy, and you'll do fine!

Some Advice from Other Members:

The final confrontation is really pretty easy once you make friends with those bouncepads! Get on top of them. Every third bounce or so you'll have to grapple back up above them... I waited till I began to pass the floating bouncepad then grappled it while reeling in slightly... it flings you pretty high and you have all the time in the world to align your next move.

Homeward Bound

Just give up now! This level is impossible! OMG!!!!111!!1! (it's a cutscene, people...Soak up Higginbotham's wise words and embody them for life!)

Thanks for reading! I hope you'll use my advice and ace The Cosmos, just like quite a few people here on LBPCentral have done! If I've missed anything or you have some more tips, please post anything you can! kthxbye!

P.S. I apologize for any typos made during the creation of this post.

Thats some helpful advice.

One bit I might add, is that on full metal rabbit, you don't have to hit enemies from the top. If you do small hops up to their side and hold r1 and rub up against them, that can kill a lot of them without opening yourself up to attack.

That is true...I'll make sure to add it to the OP.

For flight of the bumblebee:

EDIT: For everyone who saw the post about there being pauses- there are no pauses on the blocks at the boss.
If you move in a way, you can make the blocks crash into eachother, and gives you a little over a half sec more time to react.

I just cant get past the part with all of the things comeing.

For every single level, jsut try your best to stay calm. If you rember in LBP1, the wheel can get you to be very tence, then, at the last part, it will make you die

Made up my mind, and finally aced the last four levels tonight. For Full Metal Rabbit, it seems I just had to die every available death I could conceive... atleast once in that first part. Part 2 never was an issue for me. Just be mindful if you're going for a perfect run... be wary of unexploded bubblewrap shards!

Where is Avalon? From the first time I played it I was close to aceing it... Just remember to extend the bridge so the sackbots can do their jobs in the begining section... there's always that one section that I forget about the button which extends the bridge (where after you de-brain meanies--they float after you till the sackbots positron em)... and the bridge at the start of part 2-- just develope a plan and stick to it. I take out the center goon first so I'm able to swing freely!

Fight of the bumblebee took 3 tries tonight-- it is important to just learn where your enemies are coming from and get them off the board as quick as possible to keep airspace clear. For the boss@ the end I hold my fire till he shows himself... and then its': Up, midd, bottom, midd, top, midd, bottom over and over again all while firing X.

@DADJA-- The Future is the music that is played beneath Stephen Frys parting words-- it's well worth it! The future 2 is the same theme but played with a wicked electric guitar in equal part with chimes? Hope that helps! They are listed under cinematics in the music menu.

Thanks so much - I got some really useful tips from this thread. Night Angel's strategy for dealing with that turret in the first part of Full Metal Rabbit and Gravel's method for dealing with the boss at the end of Fight of the Bumblebee were lifesavers! I finally aced those two levels yesterday - phew! 2011-02-04 18:29:00

Here is an Advice from me on the Level "Into the heart of the Negativitron"

"Be patient. It is one of the most important thing to do in the level. On the second part of the battle, time yourself before doing something and think before maneuvering it.
the first and third part is pretty easy. Remember, take your time on it, don't rush

Because of the Loading Glitch I encountered recently and everything resetting, it feels like all of my hard work was for nothing. Everything erased in a matter of minutes...*sigh*2011-02-05 10:30:00

On the final button that you need to stomp in metal gear rabbit, I somehow glitched and wedged myself in the corner of it and killed myself. Twice.2011-02-06 09:37:00
