Stage motivation.

Archive: 7 posts

I'm kinda in a pickle. I don't feel like i am making any progress in creating my stage. I have drawn the stage on paper and i have also written the dialog. But i cant seem to continue. I'm always going back and tweaking and testing. I'm wondering if you guys build the whole stage then add in the important parts, or you will not move on to the next part until the previous part is perfect. I decided to join LBP Central so i can get some motivation.2011-02-01 04:59:00

The way I create levels is really from a bottom-up approach. I only have a basic idea of what I'm going to do (For my published level, I came up with the idea of a challenging platformer in the style of the Da Vinci levels), then it develops from there. I let the individual parts come with the level design.2011-02-01 05:36:00

If you aren't motivated then your stage design doesn't interest you enough.

How are you approaching this? Did you go "I want to make a stage" and then draw it out?

How I work is I go "this is cool, I want to make this" then I make it. If there's something boring about it I'll do that first otherwise I'll put it off.

Welcome to LBPC btw. <3

Post some pics of your drawings?
People would most likely say "awesome"!

I'm a bit like you, always tweaking and testing.
Sometimes it's productive to just leave that 99% correct element, and move on to the next thing.

The way i come up with my stage ideas is I came up with a main idea. This one being training academy. Then from there i put my self in sackthing's shoes and illustrate how i want the events to unfold. So essentially i have the whole stage events planned out before i start building.

As for my notes there pretty much quick scribbles of the shape of the stage. It's a general drawing and then i modify it as i build. Then from there i sit down and think who says what here and there. Since its a academy its the instructor talking. So i would come up with the instructions on what to do.

I had the idea for this stage since LBP. I decided to start from the beginning adding the new features in LBP2.

And sorry for taking so long for reply, I was actually working on my stage.
