So what does the very first challenge consist of? What is it that these creative competitors have to do?

The first challenge is:


The Signature Showdown

Basically what you have to do is, by using whatever stickers and materials you want(DLC included), construct a personalised signature of your PSN name representing you in the PSP create mode. Your interests, your personality, YOU. I understand that some of you have already made a custom signature, whether it was for Kindred or 12DOC, but I want you to scrap that and start afresh. The size of your signature should be about the size of a scoreboard and should be published in a blank level with the name Signature Showdown.
You have exactly 1 week (7 days) to complete and publish your level and post in this thread indicating you have done so. Failure to complete it within that time will result in the possibility of losing and not proceeding to the next round.
This is a SOLO challenge, and teaming up with someone would most likely result in disqualification.

Planation75:
As plain as your signature seems, it could've been more unique. I admire the fact that you added a design on the upper left of the signature. If it was just letters alone, it would probably be the most tasteless signature, but adding that small design on the upper left corner makes a big difference. It makes me more satified, and the colors are ehh. You should improve on stuff like design and colors, otherwise you're good to go. You earned 6/10 from me.

Wow, your signature is very creative. Most people stickerworked, corner edited, and stuff. Though, you thought outside the box by making your signature look like it's all mechanical and techy. You even included switches to glamorize the design. The signature looks complex and very out done. I even enjoy the font of the lettering. It reminds me of a computer type of vibe as well. It's very dynamic. You don't have much to improve on, but if you want practice the corner editor. I have to say it would have looked alot nicer if it were smaller, but none-the-less you earned an impressive 9/10


Hellobob5: Wow, I like the signature. The theme is very tune like and toon like. Lol. I like the pencil outline that draws the 5 forming a keyboard I think? Correct me if I’m wrong. Your font of the signature fits your style. I think all is great and you deserve a good score. However, there is one flaw I only find in this picture, the fact that there’s a pencil in a music type of signature. I don’t understand that, it makes the signature look cool and all, but it doesn’t fit in together. You earned a 9/10 from me.

The-Questor: Very unique type of style. The colors and font look very great. The black outline and stickering make each letter unique to your signature. It’s awesome, but it’s not the best. In all seriousness, the signature could’ve been done better if you were going for an artistic style. Unless it was just mixed up letters, then that wouldn’t be the best idea. Let’s go less random or more artistic next time. You earned a 7/10 from me.

Randomperson3459: Your signature is not the best at creativity, but it’s VERY GOOD. The font is perfect and smooth. No rigid marks to be seen in sight. The shading of stickering makes the signature look way better. The signature looks very modern and bright. I like it, good job! I don’t think you had flaws, but you could be more standing out if you want to be the best. You earned 10/10 from me.

WoodburyRaider:
Your signature is very unique in a good way. It’s not like just a name, but it has an awesome logo which makes you stand out. (Which is good) Originality is always a good way to get far, but don’t rely on originality only, even though you’re doing great on the color scheme and corner editing. In fact, you’re doing great. If you want to be more symmetrical on your work, there’s a trick. This trick will make your work very good. I won’t tell you how to do it, I’ll let you figure that on your own. You earned 10/10 from me.

The_Sackboy_Fan:
Your corner editing is one of the best. However, corner editing isn’t the only thing you should rely on for your work. In all honesty, you probably have one of the best corner editing. Then again, you lack originality. Your work tells me it’s great, but your theme lacks. I think it could’ve been better if you added more color or design rather than doing sharp corner editing. Remember to stand out from the crowd on your design. You earned 8/10 from me.

Butter-kicker:
I’m not exactly sure of what I think about this signature. It’s not the best; it could’ve been done a lot better. First, the font is very blocky. (I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.) It looks kind of funky. The color is very plain and yellow. This is not a fun signature. It doesn’t stand out much. You did put your effort into this, though. Just for trying. You earned 4/10 from me.

Lego12:
Your stickering, this is the fact that I’m willing to like your signature. If there were no stickers, it would probably be really plain and boring. However, that’s not the case. I actually like your work. Just because your stickering says “Hello”, that doesn’t mean you should only focus on that. Your corner editing could improve. The font is kind of ehh. Your signature is good, but not the best out of you. You should improve on corner editing and color of materials. You earned 5/10 from me.

Jimydog000:
Your font is colorful and it looks nice on that orange background. I think your font is smooth and well corner edited. It’s not the best in creativity, maybe you can make this stand out by a lot. Each letter has a unique vibe to it. It’s very bright, but let’s not be random all the time. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes being random is good, but it just doesn’t seem to go right in the direction you’re going towards. Otherwise, it’s an awesome signature. You earned 7/10 from me.

DizzyZebra:
*Jaw Drops* :O Wow, I’m impressed. You’re my favorite out of all. Don’t get me wrong, most people have a great signature. You managed to catch everything that is needed for a “Perfect Signature”. It has a great color palette. The font is just so beautiful, and very corner edited. The extra design is only the icing of the cake. Wow, you made an excellent signature. Just because you had no flaws on this round doesn’t mean you will be good every round. However, I can expect you doing very well each round. Keep it up DizzyZebra, you earned 10/10 + Fav Entry from me.

The_Dark_Sittich:
Wow, I have never seen you before. Anyway, your entry has very good corner editing. The design is awesome; I especially like the wings on the background. However, there is only one flaw to your signature, the background is white and so is your font. This isn’t something big, but something that is definitely worth avoiding. Smooth design and great in color. Keep up the good work and I can see you managing to go far. You earned 10/10 from me.

Cory_7101995:
I can see that takking upp time. I know how much time cosuming it is to build a letter for a word by corner editing it. I’ve done it before and it takes quite the time. However, this isn’t the best work I’ve seen from you. I know you could’ve done better. Your signature doesn’t stand out and it’s not bright. You did give this contest a go, and I appreiciate you using the effort. Though,there are no excuses on this contest, what is done shall be done. I think, lol. You got a 4/10 from me.

Planation75:
You have a very nice idea here, and I like it. The artists palette intertwining with the letters is a nice touch to your signature and really leads one to believe that you have a background in art and creativity. It could have been executed alot better however. To me, the palette could definately have been better if it were changed to the wood material. I think it would also have had a nive contrasting look with the white letters. The letters themselves are nice however, and I like the way 75 is larger than Planation. You have earnt a 6/10 from me.

Wow! This my friend is fantastic. I have never seen you before around here, but this is one solid signature. The way you creatively used the different tools from the tool bag is as equally awe inducing as your perfect colour scheme. the only thing letting you down here is the black part of the letters flickering. That said, I give this signature a solid 10/10.

Hellobob5:
This signature is a great example of integrating personal interests into a signature and executing the creation very well. Your pencil merges fantastically with your keyboard keys and truly shows your intyerest in music and art. The merrging of the letters themselves is perfect. The only thing that bothered me about this brilliant signature is the visible pistons. They should have been made invisible. I give tis signature an 8/10. Well done.

The-Questor:
I have to say, at first my mind and eyes were racing all over the place trying to figure this signature out. After finally seeing the order of letters I realised that that was the very intention. You had literally sent me on a quest to figure out the signature. I am impressed very much by this signature. I loved it so much that I am going to give you a 9/10.

Randomperson3459:
This my friend, represents your levels themselves. They are clean and nice looking. Simple yet very eye pleasing. The font is very well done, as is the lightning. It could have done with a bit more I think, and for that I give you a 7/10

WoodburyRaider:
I am very impressed overall with this signature. The whole emblem was very well created in create mode. The font itself is nice and clean. The lightning too was well done. I think you deserve an 8/10 for this.

The_Sackboy_Fan:
I am very impressed with this signature. It has a nice cultural significance as well. I love it. The font is very very nicely done as well. The only thing I have an issue with is the flag that looks a bit off. That doesn't stop you receiving a 10/10 from me though.

ButterKicker:
The font of your signature is just plain wacky! In a good way of course I really like it. I do however think that the borders are a little unnecessary. They confuse my mind in a way. Perhaps you could have experimented with more colours and the like. I gave you a 5/10

Lego12:
Oh wow! Now that is cool. I love the whole stickering idea. I do think that the corner editor would have made this signature a lot better however. I also had a little trouble actually reading your PSN in the signature. Perhaps you could have used a different material for the letters? I gave this a 6/10

Jimydog000:
This has a great compositional value and has the potential to look fantastic. Unfortunately your corner editing let you down a bit. I also think the flame does not fit well. It was a good idea, but unfortunately was not executed as well as it could have been. i give you a 7/10

DizzyZebra:
Just wow. This is brilliant. There are times I wish I could give you my wifi. This is one of those times. The font is fantastic. Its brilliant! The little symbols around the signature are very well done also. You really created a nice 3D effect which I have never seen done in LBP PSP before. Well done indeed. A nice 10/10 for you missy.

The_Dark_Sittich:
At first I thought you were a wild ps3-er posting in the thread. But then I saw your signature. I love it! The wings are my favourite part, and the font is very well corner edited also. It could have been better if you input a little more detail, but as it is it’s a nice 8/10.

Cory_7101995:
Clearly, this signature concentrates more on the dynamic features than anything. Using an invisible wall, you have made an animated signature on only a thin layer. I have not seen this done before that I remember, and so you should be commended for your creativity. The sound effects are also nice adding a mechanical feel to your signature. It did lack in some areas however, and I think that given more time you would have been able to pull off something much more. I give you a 5/10.

Cory and ButterKicker, you have received the lowest scores for this challenge. One of you will stay, the other will leave. To decide who leaves and who stays, I want you two to compete against each other in a sudden death challenge. I will give you from now (Wednesday the 16th 0f February 2011 11:13PM GMT+13) until the end of the week (Sunday the 20th of February 2011 11:59PM) To build in create mode one letter.
The letter must be the first letter of your PSN name. Make it as detailed as you can, and give it your all. T DOES not have to be similar to your previous signature at all. Just do your best to create a masterpiece out of a letter. Good luck gentlemen. Create mode awaits!


As for everyone else, you are all through to the next round. The next round will start sometime next week. I will PM you all a link to the thread when I create it. In the meantime, interviews will commence.

Heya competitors! If you're having trouble with shrinking objects, here's a quick fix:


The reason why you cant shrink it down right now is due to the fact that it has a small surface area. Simply create a new corner and pull it out. You now have a larger surface area. Now try shrinking it down Also if your object is made up of more than one piece, youll need to increase the surface area of those pieces too.		2011-02-01 21:42:00

I spent the last two hours creating this from scratch because the one I've been working on for the past few days was too big, and wouldn't shrink. The logic was messed up anyway.
In the past few hours I had a YELLOW SCREEN OF DEATH and some serious problems with wobble bolts.

It's not as good as I planned, but what I planned was a little too much. I'm happy with this one though. The wobble bolts liked to shift angles all the time and I constantly needed to fix them.

If you wanted to know, I made the numbers move faster and slower by using a mag switch set to speed placed beside the 0 and a mag key on the edge of the 0 as it spinns.

Oh ok well I think you should try and come up with something to do with the points...maybe if you have the highest total but do bad in a late round you get a free pass to the next one and can avoid elimination? Just a thought..chew on it

The sudden death entries are for the two contestants who tied for last in the last round to see who would move on and who would be eliminated. Only those two had to do it for this round. Hey maybe I said something wrong or you read the PM wrong but my break doesn't START until around March 5th and it's only a week long so you could start the competition before then and make the deadline like the day after the end of my break or you could do another short round that ends before it?
