Bounce pad points
Archive: 8 posts
I've seen this done a number of times now. What i'm trying to do, is so when a player hits a bounce pad they are rewarded points. I've made a lot of complicated things so i am experienced and have the knowledge of most the tools, but i have no idea how this can be done. Please help? | 2011-01-31 13:54:00 Author: sManic Posts: 17 |
I'm interested in this as well. You can attach an impact sensor to a bounce pad but it's not 100% reliable. I'm using this to trigger an additional affect so it was good enough for my purposes...but if there's an easy way to make this more robust I'll want to switch. | 2011-01-31 14:42:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |

I tried that too, but also wanted it to light up when hit, so I added a bit of holo that was sticking out a bit further both top and sides and put my hit logic on that. It seems to work ok | 2011-01-31 14:49:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Yea originally thats what i wanted too. I put a impact sensor which triggered changing the color of a hologram but for some reason the impact sensor seemed really unreliable. I put the counter to 1 impact yet some impacts it would just not register. So now i'm beginning to think, perhaps the pad > points thing wont be very reliable either EDIT: i just realized there is a 'score giver' tool in 'World tweakers'. It must be to link an impact sensor to the pad to a score giver. Seems simple now. | 2011-01-31 15:01:00 Author: sManic Posts: 17 |
For Clockworx 2 I used a player sensor with a small 180 degree radius. I would have used the holo + impact switch method if I'd thought about it at the time though. It's a shame bounce pads don't have thier own output... | 2011-01-31 15:34:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
EDIT: i just realized there is a 'score giver' tool in 'World tweakers'. It must be to link an impact sensor to the pad to a score giver. Seems simple now. Oh sorry.. that is what I meant by my "hit logic". I tend to make everything modular so I can reuse. So in my chip connected to the holo material there is an impact sensor which is connected to a score giver and a sound, besides the holo itself to light up. | 2011-01-31 15:46:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Yeah, it's a bit annoying that Bounce Pads can't just output, but the way I'd do it would be with invisible holo and an impact sensor. | 2011-01-31 16:00:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
I recently discovered you can use the output of the 'Impact sensor' and plug it into the bounce pad. Then it will always be reliable, as opposed to just putting it on the bounce pad it might not always detect impact. Or so thats what i found. | 2011-01-31 16:02:00 Author: sManic Posts: 17 |
