A number of you may remember the thread BabyDoll posted about the flooding in Queensland. Well it happens to be cyclone season at the moment. We've already had one cyclone which did absolutely nothing, but, there's a second one which looks a bit more threatening. Last time I checked it was a category 3 and is intensifying. It also looks as if it's going to hit Townsville dead on, which hasn't happened for 39 years. Should be interesting to see how it turns out. Here's a link and a map from the Bureau of Meteorology http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDQ65001.gif?1296457259439 I'm not sure weather to be worried tbh, the only thing to worry about would be the house breaking, but houses here are built to strict standards specifically to withstand cyclones, so I doubt there's much to worry about.

There's a number of quite old wooden houses around which, if we do get a category 4, might be losing some roofs. Hope theres no serious damage you all. Thanks While typing this I got the following message on my phone from the BOM I guess. "TC (stand for tropical cyclone) Yasi is due to hit QLD coast wed night. Those in low lying coast areas should be concerned about storm surge and relocate on tuesday check with local council." And I was going to work on Wednesday

See that little bit at the very top of the orange bit? Cooktown? My second cousin lives there. His name's John, and he lives in a shack. Others near Cooktown live in tents. Let's hope they'll be fine, eh?

I'll probably be losing power very soon. An as of less than a minute ago my backyard is down one tree, pretty big tree too, about 6m high. He was! He wasn't hit at all! Thats good to hear, the cyclone went further south. Pretty happy atm, now that we finally have our power and water back on
