Trying to create a '4 player jousting game' with the controlinator

Archive: 9 posts

Hey,
Ive been stuck in create mode trying to make a jousting minigame
Please dont steal ideas. If you help ill give credit in my level

I need to make an object to be controlled with a lance that attacks when you jab it into another opponent, and i need the lance to be connected to a circle that is vulnerable to attacks
The easiest way i can show you what it looks like is this O>

So far i got a rubber circle with a pointy metal piece sticking out in front. Ive got the controlinator hooked up to it to move and rotate the object. Now my question is how do i make the 'vulnerable circle' part of the object to have '10 health' or something so every time an opponent rams their lance into it, the health goes down by 1 and when the object finally gets to 0 health, it gets destroyed and the game ends.

PLEASE HELP!!
thanks

I've heard of these joust games, and the logic is simple.

you use collision, destruction, tags, and counter switches. (Although the tag isn't a switch)

Put a collision switch on the circle and a tag on the spike.

Connect the collision switch to the counter switch set at ten.

Connect the counter to the destruction switch with "Include rigid" and there you have it.

Well there's the concept and the theme. Since the concept has been done, try making an original theme.2011-01-31 08:19:00

Good advice
Now my problem is that i need it so only the circle gets hurt and the lance does damage, at this point both parts are doing both actions

Do you have "include rigid" turned on, on the impact switch. It should be off.2011-01-31 08:39:00

That seems to have worked nicely
Now i need to get a camera to observe the area AFTER all players get in their controllinator
Then i have to make it when only one player is left, to go to a game end screen

I smell the sequencer? Only thing is i dunno how to use it lol

I don't minding helping too much, just don't make it a huge habit on relying on others. You should do the tutorials. Some are boring, but you learn a lot from some of them. Also, if you press square over a tool, it will give you a summary of what they do. It helps a lot. Also, it's a lot better when you can do the logic, or, at least, most of the logic on your own. You tube helped me.

The thing with the AFTER thing, is that your assuming that four people will always play it.

A golden rule:
NEVER ASSUME HOW MANY PLAYERS WILL PLAY IT. (Unless you specify that it can only be played by a certain #)

Camera:
It really depends. If your gonna make them follow the jousters, then use a game camera. Otherwise, you can use the movie camera.

Use a tag sensor switch to sense when all the other tags are gone. Don't forget to set the inner radius to fit around the circle of the jouster.

For the point thing, that's different. Switch the tag to the circle, and the impact switch to the spike. Then hook up the impact switch to the point giver switch.

Also, try not to double post. Use the edit option on the bottom right of your post.
