Swinging a sword?

Archive: 7 posts

I am creating a Zelda-esque level and I want my sackbot to swing a sword to attack and damage enemies when the square button is pressed. I'm pretty clueless with logic so it would really help if someone could help me with the logic behind it. I want it to have the same effect as in the level Knight vs Knights by Alic44. Also I don't want to use an emitter because I would rather have the sackbot physically holding a sword. Thanks! 2011-01-31 05:27:00

You could ask alic44, not sure if he/she would answer though, or you can do this.

You record your arm movement on a behavior chip and place it on a sequencer.

Set the sequencer's playback option to "Play Once".

Then attach square to the sequencer's "Start Playing Forwards" input.

Tada!!!

I figured you could just attach square to the behavior chip and that's it, but for some reason it didn't work.

Thanks! I never really thought about the sequencer, I've never used it before. How would i get the animation to damage other sackbots?2011-01-31 06:12:00

There are lots of ways to do that.

You can:

A: Use an emitter and emit an invisible or visible slash that when it comes into contact with a bot it kills it. (Though you said you didn't want to use emitters)

B: Have an area of where the bot must be (Like a batter box "baseball"), and have an AND switch. So when the bot is in the area and you press square it dies. You can use a tag sensor switch, or an area hologram.

C: I believe there is another way, but I forgot it.

And how would I make it so that when it comes in contact with enemy, say, 3 times it kills the enemy?2011-02-01 02:05:00

Slap a counter on there with a count of three. Then attach it to a destroyer on the sackbot's microchip!2011-02-01 03:08:00
